I know some shoes would have a harder time with it like pumps and high heels, but what a difference slip resistant shoes make. I work in a restaurant where water on the floor is a common occurrence and since wearing slip resistant shoes, the little slips are nearly all gone. Before I would slip a lot but luckily am agile enough to recover in time to stop a fall. Just wonderering why more shoes dont have the slip resistant bottoms?

Dont most shoes use rubber? Just because its rubber doesnt mean its slip resistant.

Some shoes have leather soles

I guess rubber without treads wouldn't help much. Treads on high heals would definitely look silly. Treads on mens' dress shoes also looks silly. Treads require a much thicker sole. Try Sketchers.

My slip resistant shoes are no thicker than non slip resistant shoes. Its not the treads but the pattern and maybe a different material they use. Ive worn black combat boots to work before and those are thick, but I slipped all the time on them. Actually I noticed the pattern on my slip resistant shoes are only about 1 mm thick.

Actually they use a rubber synthetic bond. Petroleum substitute and plastic. Rubber gathering is expensive. Even car tires don't use pure rubber. Usually, the higher grade rubber with just a little bit of petroleum substitute to make it last longer, is more grippy than the stuff they use on most regular shoes.

It is also tread. But some tread is only good on a better grade rubber.
