Just finished reading this, damned good book. Definitely something I can see being up a lot of AT'ers alleys. It reads like a McGuyver how to survive on Mars in the event of pretty much everything book. Very well thought out, lots of geeky explanations, great characters, awesome plot. Will certainly be a movie at some point, hopefully a good one.

I figured more people here would have been interested or even read it already. Looks like I'm right about them making a movie! Ridley Scott directing (good) and starring Matt Damon (meh).

Andy Weir has a background in computer science. He began writing the book in 2009, researching the book to be as realistic as possible based on existing technology. Weir studied orbital mechanics, astronomy, and the history of manned spaceflight.
