Has anybody else read this book or the others in the series? None of my friends who are into sci-fi have read it, which is quite surprising actually because I'd put it up there with Heinlein . . .

Ever notice there are two types of science fiction? There's the entertaining, fun stuff (Timothy Zahn, Robert Heinlein, Steve Perry, Joe Haldeman, David Drake) and then there's the stuff you need a damn doctorate to read (Frederick Pohl, Larry Niven).
