An impromptu goodbye party for Professor John Oldman becomes a mysterious interrogation after the retiring scholar reveals to his colleagues he is an immortal who has walked the earth for 14,000 years

Just Netflixed it.

I thought it might be interesting cause the guy who wrote the story Jerome Bixby didn't write much scifi, but what he wrote was interesting. His stories became:
Twilight Zone-It's a good life (billy mumy epi)
Star Trek Mirror, Mirror (alternate universe)

Anyway, it's got Dr. Phlox and Tony Todd, and William Katt. Not to mention a very hot Annika Petersen.

It's sci-fi with no effects. Just words.
I give it 4 stars out of 5

Yeah I've seen that. A complete talk-fest (obviously) but not a bad movie. worth watching. Nice ending.

It lost a star because the shrink was awful and the older woman was too stereotypical.
Its basically a talk fest like the other guy said, but it is well thought out and thought provoking.

The entire movie is just a conversation between half a dozen people in a small room. The conversation is interesting though, with all the right questions asked.

I enjoyed the movie, but the acting - holy shit, did it suck. I loved when the fat guy just grabbed John in a bear hug then claimed he had 5 years of black belt training.

Possible spoiler:

And speaking of asking the right questions, why did no one ask him to speak some Latin, ancient Sumerian, etc. Some language that he would have had to have spoken for hundreds of years.

he could have learned it during a "normal" life so that wouldn't prove that he was that old. There's a good chance that none of the others could speak it so there's no way they could verify it.

That was Dr. Phlox from Star Trek Enterprise.
