i440-BX without a doubt. It had so many BIOS updates and motherboard revisions I lost track. But hopefully the i815e will be the same way. :)

How do you define longest lasting?

How long it is still sold on the market? Some of Intel's i430 chipsets are still sold. They were released in 95-96 I believe?

How long it is still popular on the market? i440BX

How long it is still in use? There are still people using some really old machines. I wouldn't even try to guess this one.

Definitely BX. 440FX lasted a very long time too.....Support for the PPro in 1995 all the way to the early PIIs in 1997.

The 440FX is really long lasting, with a power leap adapter you can still run a celeron 700 in it. Personally i think the 430HX is the longest lasting. It came out when socket 7 came out i think 6 years ago. If you have a ASUS t2p4 motherboard with that chipset , you can still use a k6-2+ in it today.

I'd vote for the iBX, although the iHX comes in a close second. And I'd probably put in a vote for the MVP3 chipset also.

I preferred the iHX over the iTX and obviously over the iVX chipset. (The iHX) was essentially a server chipset w/c supported up to 512 MB of RAM and dual proc support.
