South Africa's mens 400m runner is a double-amputee and white? 😱
It's cheating. They should have never let him run in the regular Olympics. Think of all the advantage they can now cramp in his prosthetics. Those things can be very springy and don't weight as much as regular muscles and bones.

Well, if you take away badminton and table tennis and trampoline, China would have about half the gold medals. What's your point? I even question some of the gold medals they got from diving, but I'll let that slide.

If not Phelps, others will come forward, that's how we roll. But, I do agree, we need to invest our efforts to other easy peasy sports too, so that we can get all the medals.

Well US got like 30 out of 60 medals in swimming, so if anyone is dominating certain sports to boost the medal counts, it'd be the US.

Anyway, you'd know badminton and table tennis isn't easy peasy if you play those sports and against some good players. And US women table tennis is getting pretty good with a few 16 year old great players. Ariel Hsing pushed the eventually Chinese gold medalist to 6 tough games before losing in round 3 and she is only 16.

There's a gigantic difference between GREAT physical achievement, vs. some quack ass national past time made into Olympic game BS.

How about we make beer-pong into an Olympic sports? How about lawn bowling? Just as legitimate as curling. How about rope jumping? It's quite difficult, from what I see (and I believe those girls would kick my ass in double-dutch). Darts? Well, baseball was taken out. Pole dancing is quite difficult too, those girls work hard. Actually, pole dancing is something I WILL support. Let me see if we can also get shuffleboard into the Olympics.

The swimming is a bit like that though.

Imagine if we did the running the same way.

Right off you go, let's see how fast you can run 100m.
Ok,well done. Now do it again but running backwards.
Ok, now do it hopping...

Really they should just have the distances and let people swim it the fastest way they can.

What you don't get is, your comparison is ridiculous. And yes, running IS like that. Are you daft? They have all sorts of running competition and different length. And they do hop, and walk, and three hops, and hop with a pole, and hop over a bar, etc... Those are ATHLETIC competitions, get it?

Swimming is something that EVERYONE does, not just something that is popular in one country or region.

If you don't see the absurdity of your argument, just stop now. You're just mad that your people suck at everything.

I must have missed the 100m hop... and the 100m gentle stroll. Did they do a 50m, 200m and 400m as well?

Are you really that fucking dumb?

What's 100 meter sprint? 200 meters, 400 meters, 400 meter relay? 2K? 10K marathon?

The hop I was referring to was long jump, 3 hops event was tripple jump, and high jump, and pole vaulting. Anyways, I should have spelled everything out as I see now that you're an idiot.

Just stop posting dude.

...

And do they tell you what cadence to use? Or do they give you the distances and tell you to run it as fast as you can?

You must be a big fan of that ludicrous running walk event.

What the fuck are you on about now? You were comparing swimming to running events. So in swimming, there's 50 meters, 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, etc... just as there are 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, etc... in running. Yes, there are different styles in swimming, and each requires special techniques and skills. They are not made up to be stupid as your feeble brain suggested (walk sideway for 100 meters, or backwards - that's stupidity talking).

The walk-run event, while I see no point in it, but I do appreciate the difficulty and endurance it takes to win that event. It is not innately special to one region or country thus wouldn't give anyone an advantage from birth.

Stop being ridiculous.

If you read my posts you'd have seen I was fine with the distances.

Races should be about the fastest time not some wierd technique.
