The little white shortcut arrow - back, with a vengeance

When you create a shortcut in Windows98, it makes a little white arrow on the lower left corner of the icon. TweakUI used to be enough to get rid of it, but now it seems that with the most recent Critical Updates from Windowsupdate, TweakUI, even v1.33 has no effect on those little arrows. Anyone have any idea how else to get rid of them?

You're not alone. I've noticed the very same thing, same circumstances. Very annoying. I haven't got a clue how to fix this. I wonder what other parts of TweakUI have been broken?

Tried it; no effect.

I wonder - a covert attempt to "convince" Win98 users to move to WinXP?

You might try using Xteq's "X-Setup". It's a tweaking program that's like TweakUI on steroids. It has the feature to disable the shortcut arrow too. Maybe it'll work where the M$ app won't.

Before you try using X-Setup, go to TweakUI and uncheck the "no shortcut arrow" box and reboot.

Fire up X-setup and go to "Appearance>Files & Folders>Shortcuts" and check the box. Don't forget to hit the "apply changes" button and reboot.

Good luck.

Damn, and I thought I was losing my mind ..... leave it to M$ to screw up a patch and cause some problem on something that never needed screwed with in the first place. :|
