The Lion King DVD

Wow. Just wow.

If you have an HD capable TV and a decent surround system, get this DVD. Watched it last night and was VERY impressed with the video and audio quality. Not to mention the film itself is pretty good.

"The Monkey's his Uncle?!?!?"

😀

We got it the day it came out but don't have time to watch it. 🙁

In a way that's good because we're getting an HDTV for xmas so I might just hold off until then. 🙂

I concur Amused

It took Disney long enough to release The Lion King on DVD!

It's great even for us poor folk without HDTV. 😉

Has anyone tried listening to the movie in that "Disney Surround" format? WTH is that, anyway?

The Lion King would be an excellent "first HDTV movie." If I were you, I'd save it until then. 🙂

The remastered 5.1 is sweet!

Naw, I believe that title belongs to Cinderella. I don't think that movie will ever be on DVD.

The surrounds and LFE are boosted. That's the most basic description I can offer. I had to turn down my rear spekers a couple of notches.

I never did care for the Lion King for some reason. Maybe it was the Elton John soundtrack...I dunno.

I think Nemo is the only really good animation film from Disney since Beauty and the Beast. (Toy Story having been purely Pixar but with Disney's marketing $$)

I gots the HDTV but no surround 🙁 That's coming soon though 🙂 But it looks very crisp the video was remastered really well

Good, but I still think the best "first HDTV movies" for VQ are (in no particular order):

Monsters Inc
Ice Age
Toy Story 1 and 2
Fifth Element Superbit
Starship Troopers Superbit
Drum Line
Galaxy Quest
Kelly's Heroes
North by Northwest
Star Trek: Nemesis

Those are just off the top of my head, but all of those are tops in the VQ "wow" factor. 🙂

Kate bought it a few days ago; the audio mastering is very good. We had it cranked, and it felt better than a theater in here. 😀

There is a difference between drawn animation, and computer generated animation. I have learned to appreciate both.

I don't have either of those, but I do want to get it for the kids.

Kids? I'm getting it for myself.

The Lion King is a great movie 😀
Yes the kids, so while they are busy watching the movie my wife and I can actually talk to each other.

And maybe a little more.

Right...but Disney had much more behind that than they did with Toy Story. Perhaps Nemo wouldn't have seen the light of day otherwise. 😕

But I'm waiting for that on DVD! 😀

Oh, definitely. But I just didn't like the story in Lion King and the first time I saw it there just didn't seem to be that much character development. It felt rushed in parts.

You know, I just LOVE Ice Age. I know that's the red headed stepchild of CG animation films, But I LOVE it. I know, I'm weird.

Well, they did have to have the main character grow up, ya know. 🙂 Timon and Pumba make the film.

"What do you want me to do??? Dress in drag and do the Hula?!?!?"

I think you need to add Shrek to that list. The textures are just about as good as Monsters Inc, imho.

Drumline??? Ugh. 😉
