Hey,

I'm trying to get an average of how long the life span of a video card normally is! Please post how long you've had yours!

I don't remember ever having a videocard just die on me. The one that did die was because I killed it - Trident 9750. I tried to solder a faster oscillator on it to see what would happen; I wasn't quite so good at soldering back then I guess.
My videocards usually get sold before they'd have a chance to die - I've tended to go through them kind of quick. I've used (after the pitiful 9750):
TNT, TNT2 M64, TNT2, i740, Geforce2 GTS, Geforce2 Pro, Geforce2 Ti, Geforce4 Ti4200, Radeon 9700 Pro. I don't remember a single one of them dying on me.

I'm guessing most will outlast their usefulness. There'll be the occasional freak accident or premature death, but I think you can count on at least 3-5 years.

All the video cards I've bought, be they add-in or onboard, are still running, even if the IHV that made them no longer is. :)

Hi,

What gets me is the willingness to insanely OC the VPU/GPU's and then someone starts getting a garbled boot screen etc....whoops $ 300+ down the drain. Now OCing a $65.00 CPU thats not as big of a problem(wallet wise)....I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm really apprehensive in OCing my VPU at all...though I have a 5400 score on 3DMark2k3 @ 337mem/357core

I've been runnin my AIW9700 straight since last November, burrnin the crap outta her and she still aint "Tore Up" she's the best GF Experience I've had in a while :wine:

cheers

Cirus Logic GD54xx 1mb video card,

Matrox Mystique G200 2mb,
in my old P2 233. Had for 3 months, still worked.

Creative Labs 3D Blaster Savage4 32mb PCI,
in my old P2 233. Had for 1 1/2 years, still worked.

Hercules 3D Prophet 2MX 32mb AGP,
in my old Duron600 & Duron 1ghz (same machine, different processor). Had for 1 year, still works, its under my bed, without HS though, its got a Blue Orb on it now, good OCer (210/210).

Creative Labs 3D Blaster GeForce2 GTS 32mb AGP,
in my Duron 1ghz. Had for 4 months, still works, sold to mate for £40. lol. Had BlueOrb on it, but had stock HSF when i sold. Crap OCer.

Creative Labs 3D Blaster GeForce3 Ti200 64mb AGP,
In my Duron 1ghz and AthlonXP1800+. Had for 6 months, still works, is under my bed, with Crystal Orb. Excellent OCer. Went to 230/510, which is speed terms is above the Ti500s.

Sapphire Atlantis 9700PRO 128mb AGP.
In my AthlonXP1800+. Have had since January. It obviously still works, as im using it right now. lol. Havnt tryed OCing yet, cos it still rips through every game that i throw at it with total lact of respect for them. I`ll probably OC it when i upgrade to water cooling, I`ll OC the core(cos it`ll have a water block), and get some copper ram sinks for the memory.

I'm typing this on my AIW-Radeon that I picked up 42 months ago and counting. We've been through heaven and hell together. Going for AIW-9800 as soon as it's in stock at local store.

Over the years I've seen dozens of vidcards and only seen 2 die(thankfully not mine): Intel i740 and a Creative Labs TNT.

In the same time period of seen about a dozen dead mobos though(no cpus).

Hi,

The Video cards I've used in the past are:

Cirrus Logic 5464
Creative Graphics Blaster 3D
Voodoo 3 3000
Geforce 2 MX
Geforce 2 GTS

Used each one for about a year and I am currently using a Radeon 8500 64 MB for two and a half years, no video card has died on me yet.

I bought a Ti4200 128 MB last April... I just sold it about a month ago to buy another Ti4200 that overclocks to Ti4600 speeds.
