So here's Bush in Hanoi, saying we should have learned from our experience there. I'm trying to figure out what it is we should have learned - that we should waste 3 million lives over several decades fighting a war we can't win? It seems to me that if we learned anything at all, we shouldn't be in Iraq in the first place.

One of us is missing something, him or me.

Yeah he's learning lessons by buying into the Kissinger theory that we just bailed too early on Vietnam, we just needed to stay the course and everything would be fine.

It's the shocker headline of the day. What's really shocking is that he said it while in Vietnam.

I agree, it is shocking that he chose Vietnam as the place where he would drop this little gem. The President's assertion assumes that with enough perseverance we would be able to win in Iraq. That is not the case. Think Britain and Ireland here. How long did the Irish resist the British?

Obligatory: Nearly forty years later, Bush finally makes it to Vietnam. Woops! He forgot to bring his Texas ANG jet and eight-ball of coke! D'oh!

OMG, the man is a complete bafoon. Have his handlers bailed and just let him say whatever both neurons in his head conjure up?

Well since Bush never went Vietnam it would be tough for him to learn its lessons. Cut the man some slack!

No doubt!! Bush wants us to stay the course, just not the course he took. That's only allowed for fortunate sons.
