Also announced yoshi's island, Mario party, new game & wario title, and donkey Kong country returns 3d. Along with this the new wiiu software update will release next week with faster boot times, quick access to Wii mode by pressing b at startup, background downloading of updates, and the virtual console store with super metroid, super mario world, ice climbers, and earthbound.

Sadly a potential wiiu seller in pikmin 3 was delayed to August.

Earthbound has no release date yet.

wow that looks pretty damn neat. too bad it's coming out for 3ds and not a real console (as in, not portable).

is it me or does it seem like that is more of a top-down view than a lttp and prior zelda games?

The perspective can change on the fly for the puzzles and such. One scene had link turning 2d and flat to squeeze through tight spaces and one had the perspective top down and you avoided obstacles by bounding up toward the player in 3d.

yea thanks captain obvious. i'm talking about the angle that is top down that is probably 99.9% of the time you are playing.

in the snes one you could see his face when he was lookin south. this one you just see the top of his head for the most part.

ive played a 3ds and the 3d did not change the perspective at all, just adds depth.

I know, was just saying the perspective might seem less odd with the 3D enabled.

In either case, it does look more top down than the SNES version.

Not sure if I'm excited. One hand, looks like RPG and adventure games are starting to make a comeback. But sequels to sequels (Eg FF X-2 type games) seem to just be cheap money grabs that use cherished or popular titles to rake in a buck, feeding off the rise in popularity of retro, at the cost of diluting and cheapening the original title/franchise.

It feels like, we are in trouble, quick what were our most successful games in the past, reuse the name and make sequels NOW!

Link to the Past is sacred. Leave it alone! Make another Zelda game, call it something else. Ill buy it either way, but PLEASE don't start with the sequel of a sequel BS that Square has.

Would be more epic if they used the exact same graphics as the SNES one, rather than making it more rounded and 3D looking :hmm:

Awesome news, since A Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda game to date.

It's my favorite Zelda game as well, and the 3DS sequel looked good... until the weird wall painting thing. I can see how it... adds depth :)sneaky:) to the puzzles, but it just seems like such a strange departure and something that I'd expect in one of the newer games. :|

I got a 3DS XL when I was in the hospital for kidney surgery during February and the only game I've played is Super Mario Bros. I only played it during my recovery and it's been collecting dust ever since.

I'd like to get Fire Emblem for it but I might have to get Zelda too when it comes out.

well, then don't act like "oh it's all top down" when it isn't. Besides that, I bet in 3D it looks killer.

It's a new zelda game with no title yet but it is set in the same timeline as LTTP.

My understanding is that it's set in the same world, but contains different dungeons. So it's not a remake of the game, but will probably feature some similarities, at least beyond the usual ones found in Zelda games.

Yeah, the perspective is definitely different. I think they just made is more vertical to make the 3D of higher/lower surfaces pop more.

Personally, I far prefer a more lush 2D art style. It would look far more timeless.
I also see what pur is saying about the perspective, and I prefer the original LttP view as well.

I'm excited though. We'll have to see what happens.
