I am watching season 2 and have 2 shows left. Wonderful confusion. I watch 99% of TV and can "Name That Tune" in a couple of seconds but not here.
I think the Departure is just another way of talking about death. Taboo in our society. Wrapped in power, Sold by con men and priests. There is no answer. It is the answer. Meanwhile I will let the mystery be.

episode 2 was really odd. something felt off about it, very uneven tone and the writing was subpar compared to how the show usually is

I sort of liked the detour with Kevin's father. And now they've introduced another end-of-the-world date with that 7 year anniversary. That could be interesting. I do get the feeling that they're a bit too scattered at this point. There are so many things going on I don't know if they can really develop all of them.

I have no clue whats going on in this show yet I continue to watch.

it's how I felt in season 1 before things started to come together. hated the show until it became my favorite. it's clearly more confusing now, and episode 1 has been the best by far this season, but I have faith that it will all pull together. I believe 8 episodes were released to reviewers before the season started and all the reviews are glowing, so hopefully we'll start getting a payoff soon. The last two episodes have felt like a lot of fluff until the final two minutes. We shall see what happens
