The major problem with the article is that the author establishes a strawman with the nebulous "left" and proceeds to pick them apart. The author never defines the "left" and just makes blanket assertions about an undefined group.

But the points I made about the Left are their actual talking points. They go up to the podium and tell people these things. They say they want more social programs. Flat out say it. They hint at wealth redistribution, and its a strong talking point in their campaigns.
Republicans do NOT have these as talking points. GW has proven himself to be no Republican. Sure, he may have rode the R ticket but for damn sure he isnt one!!
I think people are misunderstanding what I mean by "destroy". I dont mean burn it all down. I dont mean hand it over to the enemy, or France, or Russia. I mean completely undermine the very principles and ideals this country was founded on. Destroy as in no longer be a capitalistic system, but rather be a socialist/communist system. The Democratic talking points push this agenda. Wealth redistribution and large social programs are the core of a socialist/communist system. And this is what the Democrats push.
Now, knowing this, tell me they dont want the country destroyed.

Marcus Epstein informs me that according to a Dec. 2 article in Human Events, the GOP not only hands out hundreds of millions to private companies who then cook up pro-war propaganda in Iraq, but it also funds various far-left organizations. Human Events reports that the National Council of La Raza ("the race") just got a $4 million grant from the Republican Congress which will partly be used to lobby for including illegal immigrants on the welfare rolls of the states -- one of the priorities of the "Council."
For the past 20 years or so the GOP has worked diligently to increase its share of the black vote from 1% to 1.5%. Congratulations Bushites everywhere. With that great political success under its belt it is now apparently willing to spend any amount of our money to increase its share of the Hispanic vote as well, regardless of the effects on the rest of society. Wadda they care? Power is all that matters to these turkeys.

The People that throw around the Word liberal in a negative context and use it to generalize ,such as the author of the article does, often do this to sum their enemies up into a universal group.
To the origional author, who uses many generalzations, Liberals are those that disagree with his political belief.
His opinions are totalitarian, Only his beliefs are the correct ones or only justified ones. There are no possible alternatives. To the point that any alternative thinker or "Liberal" is an enemy wishing for destruction of American and western Ideals. Because they dont agree with his extreme image of american and western ideals.
Many people on the far right are hell bent on physically eliminating the Left. Actuallt eliminating anyone Left of themselves.
The First step to them is to effectively define them as enemies and demonize them.
History shows that Totalitarian leaders in the past have used this same method in the past.
getting people to go along for the ride involves bribes or buyoffs of Power and Wealth.
Absolute Power is the dream. Absolute coruption is the method.

Is or is it not disamring the citizens?

Every time I see a Democrat trying to get re-elected all I hear is how theres unfair tax breaks for the rich (Welath redistribution), how the poor suffer from taxes (wealth redistribution), how the poor need more affordable healthcare and food (Social programs) and how they want to make the streets safer (disarmament).
Do the math man. Its plain as 2+2=4. You just refuse to admit it.

Who is the left in the US? Can you define it? As I said I can make a case with Padilla that the Right wants to make this an Orwellian paradise. If anything, the Right has pushed it's agenda in the face of everyone. Not that I particularly care for the Left or any faction.
Here is the truth of the matter. Democrats want to be in power, Republicans want to be in power, and that's what matters. Either will say what it's perceived constituency wants. In effect there is no freedom of choice in elections here. It's a very good illusion that Americans embrace to feel superior. Our leaders are selected before we get to vote. Whoever whores the best gets the most money and backing from their parties. Those two run, with guest appearances from Libertarians etc.
Then you get to vote for whoever you want, but the reality is that the only ones who can win is either the Rep or Dem, and as I have said, The Party has already determined who you can have.
I get to vote for a Hobson's choice. Great.
I have not missed a federal election yet. I have come to the realization that I have no real freedom of choice. At the local level it may be different, but I don't plan to vote nationally again. Ever.
Oh, yes I can bitch about it though. I just haven't the power to change it.
What would? Ban political parties. That can't ever happen. Why?
Because that would take a Constitutional change, and guess what? The political parties would never let that happen.

A fair question. I will be involved locally since at this level people have not always sold their soul, and it is possible to influence outcomes. They still have to go with Dem or Rep since there is no other choice now is there? I mean a choice of who people will really vote for. Apathy? If that were so, then I wouldn't bother with it.
Depressed? Not seriously.
I think disgusted is a good word.
Another truth. As a whole, people are too stupid to have a real functional democracy. People really don't want to make choices. They want a King. Maybe that king changes faces and parties, but a King nonetheless. Maybe it's in the genes, us being a social species with dominant and submissive roles. Kind of like dogs. Dogs are more loyal though.
True, at the local level you're more likely to find someone who isn't woring themselves out 24/7.
