What the OP has posted has proved true in my country so far. The Left in my nation, India has not yet found a cause it cannot support.
Terrorists human rights, you got it
Illegal immigration, you got the left in it again.
Most of you here are pretty naive.
What the left ultimately hopes to do is plunge the nation in to a civil war so that it can rise to power. IN the U.S the process will take decades, but so far I can see it succeeding.
Who is the left in the US? Can you define it? As I said I can make a case with Padilla that the Right wants to make this an Orwellian paradise. If anything, the Right has pushed it's agenda in the face of everyone. Not that I particularly care for the Left or any faction.
Here is the truth of the matter. Democrats want to be in power, Republicans want to be in power, and that's what matters. Either will say what it's perceived constituency wants. In effect there is no freedom of choice in elections here. It's a very good illusion that Americans embrace to feel superior. Our leaders are selected before we get to vote. Whoever whores the best gets the most money and backing from their parties. Those two run, with guest appearances from Libertarians etc.
Then you get to vote for whoever you want, but the reality is that the only ones who can win is either the Rep or Dem, and as I have said, The Party has already determined who you can have.
I get to vote for a Hobson's choice. Great.
I have not missed a federal election yet. I have come to the realization that I have no real freedom of choice. At the local level it may be different, but I don't plan to vote nationally again. Ever.
Oh, yes I can bitch about it though. I just haven't the power to change it.
What would? Ban political parties. That can't ever happen. Why?
Because that would take a Constitutional change, and guess what? The political parties would never let that happen.
