The League of Extraordinary Gentleman

Looks like a bad movie...then again Sean Connery is in it...

If I recall correctly, he makes good decisions when it comes to what movies he decides to be in....

tough call

I'm just going to wait for DVD. I've already spent to much on going to the movies already and still have several more that I want to see.

Looks kinda decent, but at the same time it looks like a ripoff of plenty of other comic books/cartoons...IMO anyways 😕

Yeah maybe...except for Highlander.

You've never seen Zardoz have you 😀

A movie titled "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" should have starred:

Ron Jeremy
John Holmes
Peter North
....

just joking 😉

I think "YAY, SEAN CONNERY!!!!"

Then I think "wait....the avengers......"

Still, I like the Leage Of Extraordinary Gentlemen comic books, though they did add characters to the movie (Tom Sawyer and an Immortal)

The casting looks perfect though, even though Mr Hyde does look rather fakish.

When Sean Connery abandoned the James Bond series to seek out new challenges, he turned to director John Boorman's sci-fi project, ZARDOZ. Connery stars as Zed, one of a carefully bred race of supervisors, the Exterminators, who oversee the agricultural labor of the neanderthal Brutals, since in 2293, with most of the Earth's surface off-limits as a polluted Outlands, industrial society has been abandoned. All worship Zardoz, a huge flying stone head who makes periodic visits to Earth to pick up grain consignments and issue bizarre statements involving the male anatomy through the voice of Arthur Frayn (Niall Buggy). An increasingly skeptical Zed decides to stow away inside the head, which deposits him in the Vortex, a commune of scientists and intellectuals who are ruled by the ever-youthful and asexual Eternals. They capture Zed, allowing geneticist May (Sara Kestleman) to use him as a research subject for a limited period, but he begins to arouse more than scientific curiosity in the commune's supposedly nonsexual female population.

The comic books were good, however this story strays from it a good bit. They added and removed some characters which cheapens the story IMHO.

The CG isn?t the greatest either. I'll use a free movie pass for this one.

I agree, I don't think I've seen him in a bad movie 🙂

I'm wondering how many people are going to know who Dorian Grey is and what piece of literature he is from? I'm sure they'll mention it in the movie, but I doubt many have ever heard of Oscar Wilde or The Picture of Dorian Grey. Of course, I could be underestimating the American population....

beg to differ growltiger, i thought it was the dumbest thing when i saw previews but just recently when i heard the name, dorian gray INSTANTLY i knew i had to learn more, knowing full well his literary background in wilde's story i was NOT surprised they made him a superhero although the very idea delighted me immensely, i knew before they explained exactly what his power was and now im interested to see how they'll work with that in the movie.

in conclusion, some of us americans are more cultured than you think

Oh, no doubt! I guess my comment came out wrong. Sorry about that - I guess I should have said that I was surprised they were putting a character in that isn't known as a villian on the same scale as say...someone like Dr. Jeckyll. I mean, when I thin of literary villans, Dorian Grey doesn't immediately pop into my head.
