Talibans
Afghanistan's ruling Taliban have executed opposition leader Abdul Haq, who was arrested during a peace mission on behalf of the country's exiled king, Taliban and independent sources reported Friday.
According to an independent, non-Taliban source in Pakistan, Haq was accused of spying for the United States and executed after a brief trial Friday afternoon. Two associates were executed with him, sources told CNN.
The Taliban have warned that anyone showing support for the former king, Mohammed Zahir Shah, could face death. Haq, a former anti-Soviet mujahedeen commander, "did not go to Afghanistan to fight," said Abdul Sattar Sirat, an adviser to the deposed king.
"He was part of His Majesty the King's peace proposal, and he went there to contact with the tribal leaders," Sirat said.
Can you imagine what the trial must have been like?? So much for requesting a trial for Bin Laden in a neutral country by a neutral judge. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
Capturing and killing a man who is on a peace mission and trying him in a kangaroo court, where the only thing being discussed is how are we going to kill him...
