The latest new Linux Distribution... by Microsoft?

It looks like hell has frozen over, and Microsoft created a Linux networking distribution called Azure Cloud Switch for managing the network for their cloud hosting service.

Not familiar with that technology, but it's smart to use what's available. NIH isn't a winning philosophy when you need to get something done.

Pretty neat stuff, SDN (Software-Defined Networking).

Maybe this will lead to more secure switch / router deployment, too. (After hearing about persistant malware on Cisco switch / router hardware.)

With these, they could be patched, or blown away and "reformatted" just like a Windows' install. (Yes, I know that certain types of persistent Windows' malware can survive a re-format.)
