What are the latest drivers available that I should be using for the A7V and the following components, to work with win2k with primary boot attached to ata-100.

Component Using
A7V rev 1.02 1004c
C/Labs GTS 2 DDR nVidia Detonator 3 build 6.18
C/Lavs Live! Value WDM Win2k Drivers without SB 16 Emu
Ata-100 Promise build 25
VIA Stuff Latest 4in1 from Asus web site

Plus win2k, sp1 and ie5.5, AMD reg fix, nVidia 4x reg

My problems are:

1) In powerstrip it is reporting that System board AGP transfer support - 1x, 2x agp but does recognise that the gts supports 1,2,4x agp, hence I can only select 2x within AGP Wizard and Powerstrip, this even in Optimal.

2) I get crackles with the SBLive! Value when Seti@Home is running.

3) CPU Temp seems a little high whe idle - 55ºc

Help here would be nice.

NB Sharing IRQ's;
Resource Device
IRQ 9 Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
IRQ 9 NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS/GeForce2 Pro
IRQ 9 VIA USB Universal Host Controller
IRQ 9 VIA USB Universal Host Controller
IRQ 9 Creative SB Live! Value (WDM)
IRQ 9 Win2000 Promise Ultra100 (tm) IDE Controller (PDC20265)

hmmm that seems about right for your temp i have a duron 900 at 1.9v running at 47-50 with a fop38. as for agp being at 2 go into your bois and set system performance at optimal.

Try removing the SB legacy emulation device in you SB Live! properties, this should solve your crackling.

Try installing the registry fix (I don't know the website offhand - anyone have a link?) to enable AGP 4x under Win2K on Via chipsets (maybe this is different than the nvidia one you list?)... you should also install the one for Via ATA66 if you plan on using the ATA66 ports.

As for SBLive crackling/popping, check out www.geforcefaq.com - apparently this is due to conflicts between the SBLive and Geforce cards. My system was so bad (crackling under both Win2K and Win98, all the time), so I ended up changing my SBLive for a Yamaha card (I also had a lot of random freezes with my SBLive...).

I think your CPU temp is normal for BIOS 1004... switching to 1003 and setting the motherboard I/O voltage to 3.3V (instead of the default 3.56V) lowered my CPU temp by over 10c-15c... and allowed me to hit 900MHz - for about 30min or so... :-|

Good luck...

Also try the newest leaked Detonator drivers - 6.26 and up (maybe) have some fixes for KT133 chipsets - or so I read somewhere... I'm currently running 6.27...

Joeyd - I did mate, in Normal my system, 99% stable, in Optimal not quite so stable, but in either of them I still can't get agp 4x

StickHead - I have, i'm using the WDM drivers from C/LABS minus the sb16 emu

Blammo, ta for the suggestions, is this the registry fix:

REGEDIT4

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\nv4\Device0
"EnableVia4X"=dword:00000001

thats the one I got from nVidia, and it still doesn't work, I found a link to 6.31 beta drivers, I dont know if anyone has tried those yet, they're at 3d Chipset.com:

http://www.3dchipset.com/beta/nvidia/631/win2k.html

Keep em coming, I really wanna get this working

I've got just about the same problems as you: no agp4x and and a crackling sblive when running seti.

I solved the agp4x problem by installing the registry fix you mentioned and the detonator 6.31 drivers and setting the bios to optimal mode.

I'm going to test some games now to see if the 6.31 drivers are stable.

MadBazz, i'm having a few problems downloading the 6.31 drivers from 3d chipset, so let me know how good they are, and also could you tell me if you know of any alternate sites for them.

Cheers

Nice one, downloaded it and staright away 4x agp, which was nice.

Now all i have left to do is, crack the crackles when Seti is running, the occasional hangs while in optimal and getting those irqs a little more portioned out. Then I might try installing some more hardware, like a NIC and Tv Card.
