Here is a question,
Do they place songs on a cd in a certain order?

I have noticed that the hits are always in the middle and the one at the end seems to be the weakest song....

Or am I making things up?

They do place songs on albums in a certain order, but it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with hits being here or there, especially when songs which are later released may only be decided on after the album order has been decided.

you are making things up. on Queen's greatest hits, disc 1, the last song is "We are the champions", which is one of their greatest songs.

That's a VERY stupid example, since ALL the songs are hits...
And the first song is arguably the best song of all time (in the UK at least).

Well, Iron Maiden's "Piece of Mind" is sort of like that. "The Trooper" is really popular and is in the middle, and "Quest for Fire" is towards the end, but not the last, which is a rather infamous song.

I don't know about now, but I bet there was a lot of thought on this before the skip track days of the 80's and later. It probably hold true now, so peeps might listen to all the songs.
