I meant 'when they shot this season of The Last Ship.' They built his character up last season to basically take over Baltimore,
and then in the premiere he was killed off.
He has his own show now so I was just wondering if there was a scheduling conflict. Maybe this means the ship will stay in Baltimore for an extended period instead of globe trotting like last year.

I see. That makes some sense, but I never expected him to be a main character anyway. At most he'd be a recurring guest character, when the ship needed something from the mainland for example.

While I do think he did die, did they they make that 100% clear in the show? The captain was talking to him before his last scene and then he responded. Then the camera cut away back to the captain and then back to him for maybe 2 seconds. It did imply he was dead, but it wasn't unequivocally clear to me.

Pretty sure since no one was sent to help him.

If he didnt die, he could have taken over Baltimore than then they could have moved on. I thought he would have been a recurring character like you said. Once or twice a season they'd go back and either get resupplies or help him out with some other threat. The way it is now, they almost have to stay in Baltimore for awhile and establish some kind of order. And, I think he is dead. Heck, I thought he was dead the first time. It would be funny if he somehow survived.

I dont think the show is as interesting if they stay in once place for too long. I like it better when they explore the chaos of the new world.

How long should their reactor last? 10 years? 25 years? Can it be refueled in this world?

Yeah, I was confused about that. What do they need diesel for and what do they use nuclear power for? I can't remember the details.

That 2-hour premiere was very good. I very much enjoyed it.

However,
I was hoping that navy officer would shoot her evil witch mother, or at least someone would shoot her, but they stopped short of that. They made it too convenient - she killed herself.

You ask me, the scene should have been at the power plant, looking at all those bodies in the furnace. Then, she should have been pushed into the furnace.
And yeah, having a cyanide type of injection was just dumb & a lazy way to give her an easy way out.

It's not a nuclear powered ship. I don't know where they even implied that. The only nuclear powered ships in the US Navy now are carriers and subs. I used to be on a nuclear cruiser, but they did away with those for some reason.

Looks like it may be more globetrotting this season, which is great. The preview of them squaring off against a submarine is going to be awesome.

I wonder how it's going to work with them going back to Norfolk? Of course you want your crew to be able to look for their families, but every time they pull into a port things start going to hell. Plus you wonder how many people they can lose and still be able to run the ship effectively.

Adam Baldwin giving that fat cop an axe to the chest more than made up for it.

I hated that guy worse than the lady in charge. She seemed like she had some kind of mental break and thought she was doing the right thing. That other guy was just an a-hole and knew it.

If you look on Wikipedia they say that fictional ship is nuclear.

But I remember the diesel episode, which is why I was confused.

It says "Power Naval reactor" in the summary box on the top right.

Is it wrong to assume "naval reactor" means "naval nuclear reactor". Cuz if that is correct, then the Wiki page is simply wrong there. It does talk about the GE gas turbines later though.

I see. The book ship is nuclear-powered. Show ship is not. Looks like show ship may not have nuclear weapons either, I didn't really recall them being mentioned in the show.

I liked season 1.

Not seen S2 yet.

Is Rhona Mitra still obliterating the hell out of a pair of blue jeans?

Crap, I see that although it aired 4 days ago season 2, which hulu has, still hasn't aired. I can't see when it will. This is why people torrent. This irritating fiddly rubbish.

Little to "America, Fuck yea!" but still good.

The captain going out on every mission is BS though, when they got the monkeys I was thinking original star trek.
