Well, at least compared to what Lucas would have done if he kept the rights.

"On October 30, 2012, George Lucas relinquished his hold over the Star Warsfranchise when Disney acquired Lucasfilm for a cool $4.05 billion. While fans weren't thrilled that Disney would be in charge of the greatest sci-fi series of all time, it turns out this was a small price to pay to stop Lucas from what he planned on doing next.

While he's only hinted so far about how he would have handled the next trilogy of films, some of his plans appear to have been revealed in a companion book to James Cameron's Story of Science Fiction series on AMC.

Here's what George wanted to do:

For many, Disney has ruined a franchise that meant a LOT to them in their youth. Sure, Lucas damaged the franchised with his last three episodes (opinion) but Disney is destroying it by pumping out the schlock every few months, lowering the quality (opinion). This has created a lot of animosity with what is left of the "early" fans.

I doubt that Lucas' future vision as described above could be much worse than the reality that we see today.

It amazes me that Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe can do so much better than the Star Wars series movies. I guess this is what happens when you let someone like Jar Jar Abrams initially take over. Maybe Disney should let their Marvel studios take over and produce the Star Wars franchise (I'm not meaning character crossovers, just the production, screen writing, and directing).

I thought The Last Jedi was entertaining and enjoyed it. I'm not a SW fan though but I also don't dislike it. It's just there. I didn't watch it as a "Star Wars" movie, I just watched it as any popcorn movie I'd rent from Redbox.

That looks like literally the stupidest idea ever. I'll take a super star destroyer full of porgs over whatever the hell a "whill" is. Glad they paid him to eff off.

I think a lot of it has to do with quantity vs quality. Marvel is a comic book with content coming out all the time week after week, so putting out a lot of OK to good movies is acceptable, whereas Star Was used to be very few movies coming out far and few between, so they were always judged with a much greater level of scrutiny. People are still judging them with this great level of scrutiny now despite the fact that Disney is pumping them out on a Marvel universe schedule.
