The last AthlonXP...

I'm gunna be using mine for at least another 6-8 months 😉

still serving me well, and at 2.1/2.3 (depebding on how hot i want it 😉) as opposed to it's intended 1667mhz it has been remarkably good value...

*sniff. I upgraded from a PII 400 to an AthlonXP 1700+ and damn near spooged my pants at the speed increase. From that point on I wen't on to own a total of 7 Athlon XP Systems. 4 of which I use to this date. Tragically my original 1700+ wen't up in smoke when I forgot to attach the heatsink to it. May it rest in peace with the rest of its Socket A Brethern.

I REALLY didn't need to know that one dood. 😛

But yeah, the K7 was an excellent CPU, and it lasted for what seems like forever, and it was the first to break the 1GHz barrier too.

RIP AXP

As an AMD man i must give my respects to the athlon, athlon xp, duron, sempron. they were and still are damn good chip's. And will always be remembered as the chip's that allowed AMD to kick Intel's ass for the first time. 🙁

Had a Thunderbird 1.4(my first SocketA). Then, I had the Palomino 2400+, Thourobred 2800+, and finally, the Barton 3200+, which was just replaced this past Monday by a A64 3000+ Venice(had the K8NS-Ultra 939 laying around and an extra $200 to spend). Hopefully the AXP 3200+ and A7N8X-E Deluxe will live on with a friend. Thusly, no more Socket A for me🙁

Edit: Oh yeah. Killed the Thunderbird with a crappy watercooling block that chipped the core.
