You're defining "lame" as in thankless, awful work that nobody would want to do, or "lame" as in...?

Every volunteer firefighter I know loves their work to death and would gladly shove a firehose up your ass for adding it to this list. They serve as fire departments for rural areas that don't have the benefit of a full-blown one. Yeah, saving people's lives, that's a lame job.
