Kobe is good - but his ego needs checked. He f'ed himself over with the Shaq trade, and he is not a main star - he is a complimentary star. He needs someone big there with him, or he's going to stay where he is forver. He is not Magic, he is not Jordan, he is not The Dream, Shaq, Robinson or Duncan.

Magic, Jordan, The Dream, Shaq, Robinson, and Duncan all had / have an extremely solid team around them. If they didn't have those guys, would they really have been that good? No, they would have been another Kobe.
