Well, initial reactions plus installation were a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. I intially set my mixer to 50% and everything relatively neutral, thinking the klipsch had so much power. However to my dismay i needed to up everything to around 80% to get good volume without distortion. After hours of fiddling and tweaking i got all my settings to be PERFECT. Man, the bass is incredible. However the sats are so crappy. They sound like somebody upped the treble up way too much. There is no midrange whatsoever. THe gap between the sub freq. and the sats is pretty big. The sats and sub just don't blend right. My grado sr80's offer MUCh better sound quality. Also, i noticed that a lot of my mp3's are sounding like crap. I'm hearing these thwacking and thumping noises that are much more pronounced on these speakers than before. Is it because i need to break in my speakers or what?

I just got the Promedias for xmas and they rock! It took me a couple days to get them tweaked but they are perfect now. There is a little to much Treble but you just go into advanced sound controls and lower the treble and its fixxed. The bass is just amazing. These speakers are so much better then those crappy FPS1000's I had before. Im very happy with my Klipsch.

Hmmm...not sure why you are having a bad experience with them. When I had my PM's on my Lve 5.1, I needed to keep the volume at 25% or so, no higher. If they don't sound any better to you soon, return them and give the BA4800's a try. It may be that the Klipsch just don't agree with your ears, everyone's are different. I love my 8.2 setup, it is incredible. I just watched the Gladiator on DVD and WOW!

I think you hit the nail on the head... "It may be that the Klipsch just don't agree with your ears, everyone's are different."

The sound you are hearing in your mp3's may have been out of the frequency range that your old speakers could produce, but your ProMedias can reproduce that frequency.
