I think the color one is better. The overexposed background doesen't look so much like an overexposure.

The overexposure in the upper background really makes the pic, IMO. It gives it sort've this surreal feel.

I have a Canon G5, bought the lens adapter so I could use a polarizing filter/uv filter, etc.
I would like to get a 20D or a G6....the G6 of course would be much cheaper...but the 20D is a dream!
