Why, oh why oh why oh WHY, does it happen? It just baffles me, it makes no sense whatsoever! WHY?!?!?!

Just picture it. You're using your computer, typing and clicking away, using ICQ, browsing with IE. Then you hit reply on an ICQ message, and you go hit a key and nothing happens! What's your initial thought? Something along the lines of "WHAT THE F***?" ? I thought so! :p

What gives?! This has happened before! It's happened on BOTH my computers, with BOTH my keyboards! IT's the most annoying thing in the world when you're trying to use a computer! I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in, but that doesn't work with this computer (it used to with the other)!

When it happens, I Can still press ALT-CTRL-DEL, so what gives?? Why can I press that and it works, yet none of the keys work including the caps/num/scroll locks?

I don't get it! I don't get it! I don't get it~!
I'm going insane.. :|

I've had similar problems with Dell computers. But unplugging and plugging the keyboard back in solved the problem.

Never had the keyboard die on me on any other computer but Dells...

I had the problem on an old proprietary motherboard. I upgraded the motherboard and it went away.

My only thoughts are if you're using a USB keyboard, there have been some problems with VIA USB drivers and loosing devices randomly, I beleive a 4-in-1 update fixes it though.

This is a Dell OptiPlex 466/Le with a P83 overdrive....... DELL! :|

But wait, my other system is just some nobrand clone type computer (dead now, but it had this problem too, with numerous keyboards). The mobo was an FIC VA-503+ and never had any apparent problems (till I killed it), other than this keyboard thing.

Edit: No my keyboard is not USB, it is PS/2.
