Uh, that quote is all they mention about that in the news story. They didn't document his reasons why he says this.

What happened to the Intel Science Talent Search? Isn't that supposed to be the #1 science competetion in the US?

Uncle Craig isn't too far off-base as far as public schools, unfortunately. Science classes frequently get cut down when money is tight. I noticed that a lot of the winners in the science competitions come from private schools.
