The Joys of Winter Cleanup

I live in a Dorm with 3 other dudes, and to prepare to go home for winter break, I've been cleaning up the dorm.

Just now, I've gone through the fridge to see what needed to be tossed.

Discoveries
4 month old tub of Vanilla Ice Cream
2 month old apple strudel stored in a mug
2 month old salad that half decomposed into a brown sludge
1 month old Pecan Pie (Is this thing safe to eat, I love pecan pie)
2 month old potatoes
Miscellaneous empty/half full plastic containers that I remember being the fridge for well over a month but afraid to look into them because they used to have indian food in them.

Wonderful having room mates that don't remember to finish their food.

My version of cleaning out the college fridge was always a 5-day posted and emailed warning that absolutely ANYTHING in the fridge and/or sink after Xpm on Y day was going to be tossed. Then I put down some bins to collect the water and hosed the fucker out.

My version was not living in a fucking dorm in the first place so I didn't have to put up with slobs.

Ice cream belongs in the freezer.
Potatoes should be fine after 2 months, just might need to cut off the root bits.

at our old college frat house we had 6 pounds of fried rice sitting in a plastic serving container, found on top of a refrigerator after 3-4 months (uncovered)
