I don't officially own the 1990 Lumina, it's my grandpas, but i'm the only one who drives it. I've been using it for about 2 months...but never having used a car daily like i did this one without parental supervision (i was living with a friend). So basically i have no idea how to do maintence on a car. A couple weeks ago I've been hearing a creaking sound in the brakes..and yeah, I eventually damaged the rotor. but thats another story.

Anyways, the whole time i've had the car, it would not get power to the wheels when i was turning. The engine would rev up if i hit the gas, but it took a good 3-4 seconds for any gear to catch. last friday before work, we were supposed to take it into a mechanic to get it looked at. but my dad came by and took a look at the car. He brought me outside and told me before i take anything to the mechanic, i should look at it myself. So he made me check the tranny fluid, and sure enough there was none in there. So we went to pep boys, put some in, and I thought some fluid was nothing going to fix it. But when i drove off, I was doing donuts in the parking lot. Yeah, the car runs perfect now.

Well I've got a lot to learn having my own car. Now if you'll exscuse me, I gotta go replace my rotor

Lucky you that that fixed it, mine burns the fluid within a month and slips like crazy when I put the petal more then halfway to the floor. My friends dad is a automechanic so he fixes most stuff for me for free... except cost of parts. But he doesnt do trannys so its gonna cost me $1200.
