The Interstate and Oncoming Debris

I seem to be a magnet for falling and flying debris while driving. So far I've seen a ladder flying towards me sparks and all at dusk (actually a cool sight) but I was far enough behind to miss it. I've had a dually blow a tire in front of me and the subsequent debris ended up all over my car and windshield. I was behind a flatbed hauling some metal that began to unwind and was trailing further and further behind the truck again while kicking up a shower of sparks. On Wednesday another flatbed had some type of heavy cardboard looking squares that were flying off the truck and breaking up all over the road. Naturally I was the only car near it to see what the hell was going on.

There are more incidents but those are off the top of my head. Except for the ladder none of them were all that long ago either.

Any stories?
 
a bird that got hit by a car in front of us. went flying straight up in the air and smacked off my hood.


edit: also, this jackass in an suv in front of me spun up the giant radials that strip off 18 wheeler tires. it came flying at my and messed up the bumper of the new (to me) camry. i had had the camry for about a week at that point =(
 
A cooler broke loose from an unstable trailer pulled behind a pickup. This was one of those bigass ones that you would use for a party.

It hits the pavement at 70 mph and shatters completely. Suddenly I have soda cans exploding on the ground rigght in front of me spraying soda all over the front of my car.
 
last year in march when me and all my friends went snowboarding in new mexico, i was driving a explorer. we were behind a truck and a metal gas can fell off the bed and was hurling towards the front of the explorer. i cut from the right lane to the left lane to dodge it. it missed the bumper by about 2 feet.
 
Not on an interstate, but I've had a trash can come sailing out in front of me once.

Once on the interstate, a chunk of rubber or something bouncy came flying out of the back of this trailer, it bounced once on the road, then right as I was thinking "Here comes a broken windshield..." it bounced right off the windshield in front of me and sailed over the car. It was hilarious to see and I was cracking up for the better part of 10 minutes.

I was with my Dad once and we saw a guy in a pickup truck lose an entire couch out the back while going down the interstate. He didn't even stop.

My friend said he had to dodge a cooler full of beer once.

Two cans of empty pop, one of which hit me, and I've run into a bag of cardboard just sitting there on the highway. Fvcking alabamians are a filthy bunch of buggars. I swear I've never seen such reckless littering anywhere else, and the sides of the roads are atrocious.
 
A full size (could have been queen I dunno wasn't measuring! 😛 ) bed. I didn't see where it came from all I remember is it was overhead and closing fast. I dropped into 3rd gear and pulled hard with about 10# boost and it cleared me. Looked in the rearview to see a large Kenworth swallow it up. It was a FREAKING BOXSPRING!!! Talk about a crunch the fvcking thing exploded, wood splinters, metal rods everywhere. If this appeared just two seconds previous I would've been eating a sealy for lunch at 80 mph.

This was on I-95 just south of 695 below Baltimore.

Skoorb take a short trip West to Mississippi and you will find the same lack of concern for the environment. They are pigs over here too. Burns me up...
 
i had a god damn metal stationary tug fly at the front of my car while driving on i95 to work. i swerved out of the way quickly but it still clipped the front driver side of my car and scratched up the paint and crap on it, and knocked out my front dummy plate next to my turn signal.

i still havent gotten it fixed yet 🙁.
 
my parents got hit by a mattress. flew off the top of some guys truck and smashed into their winsheild.
 
rubber chunks from the tire of a big rig I was next to

didn't seem serious but they freaking dented the mesh grill on my bumper and that stuff is strong!
