The Internet sucks.

The Internet has turned into the single largest bastion of corporate greed in existence. You cannot go anywhere without registering or paying a fee. Every page you see is riddled with advertisements that are getting increasingly harder to control. The average user's bandwidth id 20 parts download per 1 part upload... so the average user doesn't get to contribute much if you look at it that way.

I just checked my email after not checking it for a weekend... 786 spams.. 786!!! How the fvck am I going to sort through all of those to see if any of my friends said hello? It is getting impossible to stop them and they have nowhere to answer to.

Why the hell can't someone create a network that goes by driver's license or SS# that holds people accountable for spam they send? I don't give a crap if they stick my name in another of the 100000 databases it's already in.. I just want to be able to receive email that is to me. I don't need a larger penis. I don't want more porn sites. I don't have a terrible love life. I don't want your help with clearing my debt. I do not want to make $500 a day by stuffing envolopes. I don't want a fvcking deck of cards with Iraqi dumbasses on it!

ARGGH.. I've had this email address for 6 years now. I promised people I wouldn't change it.. But now it's become a bloated sack of filth and I cannot afford to spend 30 minutes a day sifting through it. I have tried spam blocking lists and I've tried Mailwasher. I've tried sending unsubscribe to them and I've tried ignoring them... for months at a time.

Checking your snail mail is never this frustrating.. sure.. you get a few spams - but at least those spams cost someone money to send. The spam in your email box is just a complete waste of bandwidth. Unsolicited email will be the downfall of the Internet.

The rest of the Internet will follow what happened to email. I hate the Internet. Nazi-moderated forums like these will be the only useful thing left.

I know. My hotmail account I've had for about 6 years is ridiculous too. In truth with the proper security setting (I can't go high because I don't know every one who will email me) I only get maybe 20 junks a day which isn't TOO bad but I do hate everyone of them. I hate telemarketers more.

Don't ever post your email address on a publicly available web page or especially in a message to a Usenet group. It's the latter that cost me my MSN email address after having been a Microsoft MVP for two years and posting under my email address (before spam was really a problem).

do you have an email addy that you use specifically for spam? Ive had my own domain for about 6 months and created a separate account for spam. I have not recieved spam in any of the other important email accounts, except ads that I actually signed up for

Yes, I have two "main" emails, one at sbcglobal and one at UCLA, and get maybe 1 spam per week on them..my other e-mail hotpop gets about 1 an hour. Don't ever expect to sign up for hotmail/yahoo and not expect to get a buttload of spam everyday.

actually, from what I hear, a Yahoo email is not as big of a spam magnet as a Hotmail addy is. I have a 5-6 year old Hotmail addy that has become 99% useless because its mostly always spam, but its because I kept signing up for different things when I was a n0ob at teh intarweb

here's something that worked for a friend of mine. cancel / change your email addy for a week or two and the bouncebacks will take care of the spam. then, change it back.

I get roughly 1 spam a month on my only email address (and I've used it for about a decade). I think you just need to learn how to use the internet better. I had several a day at one point then I took the time to unsuscribe from all of them. Sure at first it lead to more spam as they learned it was used email address. But if you diligently unsuscribe to them all eventually their is no one left to buy your address... After 3-4 weeks they ended.

Yes the ads are getting out of control and yes proper regulation could eliminate the bad ones. Too bad no politician is willing to fight to stop them at this point.

I Know I thought I could find some highlights of the Buick classic when I got home today. Apparently I have to pay 20 dollars a month for a real one superpass to see anything. fu@k that. Anyone have a pass for me??

I have 2 hotmail accounts, one I use for signing up for everything etc, and I get 20-30 of spam crap a day, and I have reached my 250 block list maximum. My other email doesnt get a SINGLE spam email, NONE. I do however not like that I can not filter incoming emails from hotmail with Outlook, which is probably on purpose, I am in the same boat as the OP, and as spammers have evolved into using "real" sounding names and titles I can not just delete stuff, never know it might be a client or an old friend, etc which is exaclty what they count on, but it still is starting to get old. I get the same email about 3x from different email addresses within 5 minutes.
