The Internet Exposes Rachel Maddow

Having never watched her show anymore, I find what she says to be very enlightening except for the fact that she keeps saying conservative media. I think this happens a lot in all media, but it has been quiet the problem in conservative media recently. I have a tea party friend and I hear shit like this all the time.

That's a problem with the information age. It used to be that smart people had access to information and could validate it and not take it for face value unless it was from good sources. Now-a-days ever idiot has access to the internet and takes it for face value so people believe anything if there are more than 3 entries in a Google search on it.

I'm sure there will be a right-wing agreement that her points are valid, and the over-wrought hyperbole is foolish...

/cue the crickets....

I usually disagree with Maddow and I did not vote for Obama.

I agree with her on this though. The news channels should not be saying things if they do not have the facts.

Good clip. And I agree with IBMer's comments.

This has been the crux of my argument about why Fox news should not be called news anymore. I say anymore because a few years ago shep and the old anchors kept the news shows very newsy. I used to watch hannity and colmes about as often as I would watch any of the pundit shows because at least there was the opposite opinion on any one thing. I cant pinpoint when it happened but the last few years with the acorn faux outrage, the reporting of innuendo as fact, and the outright pushing of their own agenda did things become out of hand.

Sadly this is not going away anytime soon. With new media propaganda has new meaning since anyone I mean anyone can create a story as long as its published on some minor blog.... Print media and to a greater extent TV has done away with their fact checking and basically rubber stamp lies because they choose to run with them-see acorn-Shirley Sherrod etc...

Did the fear mongering get the base out? Has the southern strategy been given new legs? Does goldline prosper?

Oh, Matt, pretending you are an independent who regularly votes for democrats but just happened to be OUTRAGED by Barney Frank's acceptance speech, we now know what "radio" YOU regularly listen to:

I don't think its a mix up. I heard this exact figure on a radio show yesterday, I didn't see anything on the news though. They are completely renting out a very expensive hotel. Bringing 3000 people there. Crazy.

Did his trip cost ~$200 million a day? [<-------- matt now taking it as FACT that Obama's trip costs this much and comparing it to Bush's trip (the "his" in his statement), when it was pointed out Bush took the same damn trip and rented MORE rooms!] If so then I would have been outraged back then if I heard about it. Seems like a lot money.

Just stop lying to us and lying to yourself, Matt, k?

ATP&N is fair and balanced!!!!!

Who is Rachel Maddow? Am I supposed to have heard of her?

^^ So owned.

Bober sez, "Ignorance is fun!" and, "I'm too lazy to even click on the OP's link and minimally educate myself about the topic of this thread but I'll proudly post my little blurt anyway because, hyuck, ignorance is fun!"

Whether she's right or wrong I simply can't listen to her for more than 5-10 minutes without getting bored to tears.

Well, when you're talking about things that shouldn't be missed by anyone with at least a third grade education, and you're talking about them because they are being missed, you kinda hafta' explain things on a third grade level.

I, for one, didn't need her at all to point these things out. I'm about a year ahead of her.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Less sugar, adulthood, and then there's always adderall, dear.

The Supreme Court labeled Fox as an Entertainment organization but they are allowed to put "News" as their name.

It's part of the name only, there is no news.

I'm pretty sure I never said I regularly vote for democrats Perknose, because I don't. I believe those are your words, not mine. I have probably voted 3rd party more than anything, at least when I can. I did vote for 2 Ds last Tuesday, I really don't give a shit if you don't believe me though. I usually do have to end up voting for some amount of democrats most years (other than this one) since I live in MA.

I am registered Independent, never said I wasn't a conservative though, just don't owe any allegiance to the republicans since they have let me down and the past and I have voted 3rd party usually. I've never said I never vote for republicans either, I have before as well, voted mostly republican on Tuesday.

I strongly dislike many of the democrats in my state, but I think my state is somewhat of an anomaly. And yes, I strongly dislike Barney Frank, your point? If I dislike Barney that makes me what? a partisan hack? Give me a fucking break. (who said I was outraged anyway? I found it half amusing, half embarrassing, again you shove words into my mouth)

Oh noooooo, can't dislike a democrat without being a republican in the world that Perknose lives! 🙄

I did hear that figure on a morning talk show, and? Did you have a point?

I don't watch Fox, don't usually watch TV and general. But I hate lying and distorting facts.

Is it ok to not identify with liberals / Obama and at the same time not like it when people spew non-facts about them? Guess not, according to Perknose.

Boy, liberals have sure gotten cranky around here in the last few days. I wonder why? 😕
