"The survey of specialist sales staff at the biggest retailers such as CompUSA and Circuit City, showed that 48.7 per cent believed most customers still prefer Intel, 49.7 per cent expressed no preference, while a meage 1.5 per cent said they thought AMD was better."

Those are extremely sad numbers. Really shows off the sales people's knowledge of computers.

I'm not suprised. Most salespeople at the larger chains don't know enough about computers to ever build one themselves. I've only come accross a few exceptions. That lack of knowledge impairs their ability to give sound advice to thier customers.

But then again, if they really knew what they were talking about, the stores the work for would have to pay them more. And if the stores paid them more, they'd have to keep raising thier prices. It's a no win situation.

Morpheus man hit it right on the head.

CompUSA and Best Buy are really only good for their special deals on new software releases.

Morpheus is right. I can tell you from experience that most sales people don't know what they are talking about. Training? What's that? Plus, usually whatever company can give the chain the most sales propaganda has the higher sales. Since we all know Intel rules the propaganda world, they are usually the victor.

You'd be suprised how many sales people have no clue what they are talking about. Or, they sell you what they have in stock or get the bigger bonus for. But it is even more suprising how people buy things they have no idea about. People seriously need to do their homework before buying a $2000+/- item.

But then again, Best Buy and all those consumer stores are really just for the uneducated public. And as we all know, &quot; The Mass&quot; will fall for nearly everything. When I got one of my PC's 2 years ago, right when the Pentium III came out, the salesperson at <name withheld> said &quot;Oh, don't worry. The 3DNow! instructions in your K6-2 will still keep up with the Pentium III.&quot; The funny part is, the K6-2 is still below a Pentium II for god sakes! :D

Goes to show how uneducated Salespersons are.
