I've used AIM basically daily since 1999 (before that, it was ICQ for a year two)....I seriously doubt I'll "grow out of" keeping in touch with friends...

Well I know what you mean, but it's just the easiest way to talk to a lot of people for me.

Nope, I still use it almost daily. Have since 1998 or so back when we all had ICQ. Like SynthDude2001 said, it's the easiest way to keep in touch with friends. All of my friends are either from high school or college and none live nearby, so AIM is how I talk to them instead of going over to their house or vice versa, or going out to do stuff. Until there's a better way to keep in touch with them or AOL decides to stop supporting AIM, I don't see any reason why I won't keep using it.

I typically have it on. I rarely use it though. I have friends all around so occasionally I will catch one on IM and say a quick hello. Sometimes I will chat with relatives or my mom. Overall, it tends to be far more tolerable than talking on the phone but I just don't do either that much I guess.

I keep forgetting to open AIM lately. Plus, I just speak to a lot of my friends on the phone. And the friends I have that are in other states, aren't usually online much.

I use to use it a lot more but now I just run AIM 24/7 but rarely chat with anyone unless a college friend is online.

After my freshman year of college, I swore off instant messaging. I haven't opened AIM or any other IM program since 05/2003. :)

I haven't signed on in some time now.

I used to use them all day every day pretty much.

I use MSN at work and I have a few friend I talk to at night

Still prefer the phone though for communication
