The "Insert" key.

I'm all about inserting, I see no point to overwriting, it's nowhere near as satisfying and frankly it usually just ends up making a mess of things.

What say you?

Does Overwrite even work anymore? It doesn't here in the Quick Post box. Even way back in '88 when I was learning to use WordPerfect and the key was pointed out, I still used Insert. Overwrite is kinda clumsy and usually ends up screwing things beyond repair.

I never overwrite. I just select with the mouse and press delete if I need to overwrite.

I've never used the function on a computer.

I just highlight what I want to overwrite and start typing.

The only time I ever use the insert key is on Vmware Infrastructure Client since it's Ctrl, Alt, Insert instead of Del to log in.

Works in Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio.

Me also. While I can occasionally see where it'd be useful, I rarely do so. I'd rather either just delete/backspace the text I want to get rid of and replace it. Overtyping (at least for me) tends to cause me to fuck up what I already have done..."Ah shit...wtf did I just do? <undo-undo-undo-undo-undo>
