the infamous generic host process error

since some time ago I have found in my network lots of PCs giving this error. This includes a server. I thought it was a virus that Kaspersky cant see, so I googled about and found some directions to remove it (cant remember the name). None of the references were correct and couldnt find a trace of virus. Then I downloaded a patch for Windows 2003, but it says I dont need it (already have latest 2003 SP). Can somebody give me an idea to solve this?
