The importance of Direct X and 2D Graphics...

I was wondering how important is was to have most recent version of DirectX for 2DGraphics... Currently, most users at my company are using AutoCad2000 for 2D graphics only and DirectX 7.0... Will DirectX 8 really improve everyones performance?

I don't really feel like going to everyones station and upgrading their directX.. and trust me.. they won't be able to do it themselves...

I won't claim expertise but I don't think upgrading to DX8 will make a difference. AFAIK, updated versions of DirectX differ from one another more in the features they support, rather than sporting more efficient algorithms. So upgrading to DX8 oughtn't make a difference until Autocad starts taking advantage of DX8 features (and chances are that the new version will install DX8 for you). Hope this was helpful.
