Never heard of it.
But very interesting considering a longtime friend of mine passed away from ALS this past week. :\

Bill Gates had to wear a welding helmet for a propane torch. Both items were useless for the application.
My daughter is a cynic, I guess. Her comment on seeing Gates' video was that Zuckerberg and his three challenge-ees alone could fund ALS research for the next twenty years if they skipped this summer's vacation rental.
Ignoring the fact that, Gates at least specifically, donate amazing amounts of money to charity, there are also about 400 diseases on the list that also could use funding.

I've done it. It's been great for generating awareness and raising money for ALS research.
A year ago, the ALS Foundation had only received $20k in donations. This year, they're close to $1.5 million.
Well, that's the thing. I don't know if he was actually going for the whole "I'll design this gantry from scratch" or if it was just a fun red herring.Uhh.. every item he has was useless. Ruler, paper, random lines, stick-figure drawing.. I think that was the joke.

Have her donate her allowance then

This, I just know that if you don't want to donate money to some cause you need to pour ice over your head. I think it's some fb thing college kids are doing ;-)I've asked 4 people that have done the challenge if they actually knew what ALS was.
They did not.

She's 19, and hasn't gotten an allowance for some years.
How do you donate to ALS? I haven't seen a link to the website in any of the ice bucket videos.
I just think its funny that one week the news is reporting on how dangerous these viral challenges can be, then the next week they are participating in them. Granted this isn't very dangerous, but if someone dies from it I wonder what the reaction will be.You can still donate. However; whether or not someone does had brought major awareness to this movement.
Lol at mentioning FB though as an issue.

The most dangerous one I've seen so far is the front end loaders dropping it on a group of people. Come on everyone, we can do better than that!!!! Let's get a dump truck now!!!
Many times it's the nature of people competing that makes them dangerous. Everyone has to outdo each other, eventually someone does something stupid that causes injury. I doubt that will happen here, but there have been other challenges that seem innocent that went wrong.Jesus, take a knee/seat.
Viral challenges can be messed up.
This is not one of them unless you have a major health issue affected by cold.
Paul Bissonnette's ice challenge video is the I've seen so far.

That's really sad.
I worked three jobs through high school and was active in school and kept my grades up (more my test scores).
My parents got me a car, paid my insurance, gas, and gave me some cash each week.
Helped my college fund when they were incapacitated.
To each their own I guess.
My allowance is paying the 20+GB data plan I have to support for my kids iPhone 5s' as long as they do well in school and that starts again tomorrow.
I have to up my game though...more changes on the way.
