I get what they are saying. We sit and look at stuff so much these days our eyes will get huge. I disagree about how they show the heads getting bigger though. I think brains will shrink because of all the short term info we get day to day that we won't retain because we can just search engine it.

Didn't read it after seeing the pics. I'm calling shens. How we change is entirely dependent on who breeds. Even if larger eyes has some sort of future advantage(not sure how that can be predicted...perhaps the article states it), it does not mean that those with better eyes are going to dominate breeding.

This type of prediction relies too heavily on false premises and on a future that is unknown. It is a waste of time, IMO.

Since we both didn't read the article, it's possible that they don't preclude anime-style eye enlargement surgery.

All the future evolution predictions will be flawed. It's based on the "survival of the fittest" mentality, except in the real world you don't know what "fittest" is until after the fact. Fit doesn't necessarily mean most attractive or healthiest. No one 50 years ago would have predicted that nerds would be accumulating the most wealth and power, and yet look at the nouveau riche billionaires in the business world.

Or if some super disease which produces a cytokine storm (like the Spanish flu or something similar to bird flu) comes around and wipes out a large percentage of the perceived healthiest among us, the ones who are left to repopulate the earth might not have any of the features that are chosen as the most attractive.

Plus the fact that social norms can change, and how populations and cultures mix can't readily be predicted that far ahead. 100,000 years is a ridiculous amount of time, though as a pure thought experiment you can come up with any ideas you want to.

Lamm says this is "one possible timeline," where, thanks to zygotic genome engineering technology, our future selves would have the ability to control human biology and human evolution in much the same way we control electrons today.

In other words, this is just a sci-fi interpretation of one possible future. It's meaningless.

By 100k years either the rapture will have happened, or global warming and pollution will kill off everything. I imagine a large increase in respiratory issues, heat strokes, lot of droughts, lot of animals dying due to pollution and lack of water and food (less plants). We're always looking at expanding business and cutting down more forests, so as a result of that + continuous increase in pollution we will speed up global warming and it's related deaths. It will hit a point where it's actually very significant, but yet we will continue to pollute until we kill ourselves off.

Near the end when there's only a few million humans left things might stabilize so I don't think we'd actually be completely wiped out, but it could very well happen.
