Just look around you. There is nothing but brute selfishness, superficial BS and mass propaganda. Also, look at yourself, if you can and see if these things are present in yourself.

On Youtube, the top channels are a bunch of nonsense spewing chatterboxes. But they get millions of views. Anything of substance can barely get more than a few thousand, if that. Same goes for everything else in this world - the superficial is the norm.

Human beings are so conditioned that we fight over things that we have no clue about whatsoever. Apparently, Indians and Nepalese people are fighting over where the Buddha was born. Indians say he was born in India and Nepalese are saying he was born in Nepal. Can anyone see the stupidity of this? No, but we can argue through our patriotic-tinted eyes all day long.

It's sad that humans can send a man to the moon but quarrel over things which should be reserved for 3 year olds (if that).

Just a tiny example of what human beings are (read the comments at the bottom):

Did we really send a man to the moon? Don't believe the hype.

I really don't give a shit about any of that. What I can't figure out is why so many people want to talk about the weather all the time. There's nothing new going on in the weather. Sometimes it's sunny. Sometimes it rains. Sometimes the wind blows. Sometimes it's still. Sometimes it's hot. Sometimes it's cold. THATS IT! We know that's how it always was and how it will be for the indefinite future. Yet when some permutation of those events happens yet again tomorrow, some idiot will feel the need to comment on it. Barring cataclysmic events, how can the weather EVER be something anyone would choose to talk about?

In regards to the YT channels. I'm subscribed to Vsauce(and 2), Veritassium, Minutephysics, MinuteEarth, Periodic videos, and Barking Irons. They all seem to get lots of views and are not garbage content. The comments, on the other hand...

I'm okay with it.

If 99.9999% of the other people were not OK with it, like you, then they would try to change themselves - maybe even a tiny bit. Then the whole world would be a very different place. I am not talking about education or any of that here. I, along with you, apparently seem to be fine with status quo.

But you know, its much easier to just go along with society and that is what we humans have done and will continue to do. We can talk a big game though but when it come down to acting upon those words, it never happens.

Printer Bandit, with the way man is treating the Earth right now, I'm not sure what the future holds - if anything. Everything has consequences, including how we humans treat this planet.

People are evolving. Maybe the smart will split from the stupid and one day we'll have only smart people left. But then, even smarter people will start showing up and then the smart people will be seen as stupid by the really smart people. So then they will split and there will only be really smart people. But then...

The problem with this is stupid people are allowed to live and procreate because smart people are forced to fund their lives. Other species don't have that problem, so natural selection works as intended. Humans are doomed because most of us are morons and the few who aren't don't have a chance at becoming the majority.

Idiocracy, is a movie everyone should see.

I'm convinced this was a story from a time-traveler.

Three options:
A. We're going down in flames/disaster
B. We're devolving toward Idiocracy
C. We'll be geniuses and almost married to tech/science and also have fitter and more healthy bodies thanks to limited genetic modification.

I'm rooting for the third option, yet I mostly expect the first option. I find it likely we'll be in the clutches of Idiocracy at the time we fall victim to the whims of nature, so sort of D. A & B but not C. :D

Food for thought: humans could go extinct just like most of the other species that have ever lived. Making our future nothing more than worm food, provided there are any worms left that haven't themselves gone extinct.

The more I learn about our universe, humanity doesn't scare me as much as it used to. However, I look at humanity with a grain of salt...you know, that thing people call cynicism. I call it being realistic. People don't like to be around people like that, even though they themselves are always hopped up on alcohol, drugs and self help nonsense to keep from having to think about how life really is. FB, Twitter, YT, etc have just helped people draw attention to themselves. Look at me look at me look at me....

then again....so are forum posts :p

One day the smart people might congregate to a future country that represents the last bastion of reason and civility, and then work together to get off this rock and never look back.

Yep. All of our drama, inventions, history, just the whole damn thing would count for nothing. It would be as if we never existed at all except for those that may stumble upon our remains.

“The official stand of the Government of India is that the Buddha was born in Nepal, but a few people not having sufficient knowledge proclaim that his birthplace is in India.”

Most scholars agree that Buddha was born in 623 B.C. in the sacred area of Lumbini located in the plains of southern Nepal. An inscription on a pillar erected by the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka in 249 B.C. testifies to it.
Still the misconception persists.

In 2010, Indian-American journalist Fareed Zakaria, host of CNN’s flagship foreign affairs show and editor-at-large at Time magazine, sparked protests in Nepal for stating in a book that the Buddha was Indian.

We can maybe thank that 'journalist' Zakaria for helping to foment the misconception. I don't think it's some major fight though.

Less disillusioned? Really? So to go along with the herd is to be less disillusioned?

By the way, what your saying is exactly what we people are doing. Living a 100% selfish life without any concern for anything other than our pleasures. We may say all sorts of nice things and may even perform an act of kindness but deep down, we're so selfish. Everything stems from it. All our wars, our fights, our hatreds, our fears. But yes, you are right, I am disillusioned. Unfortunately, I'm not the only only (not directed at you).

Hate to burst your bubble but the Apollo landing sites have been photographed and guess what they found???? THE LOWER PART OF THE LEM DECENT MODULE, THE ROVER, THE FLAG, ECT. so there you have it, Google it if you want, we went to the Moon several times and the pictures showing the hardware left there are proof-positive to anyone with an IQ greater than 2.
