Sounds pretty good, I'm looking forward to another Marvel Universe movie

Spoilers:

"There is good news for fans of the Big Green Guy this time around, Edward Norton definitely gets it. His draft of The Incredible Hulk dated 5-13-07 is an incredible ride and will attract both fans and non-fans alike.

It?s two (make that 100) steps ahead of the 2003 edition. There?s no waiting around ?til 40 minutes in to have the big green guy make an appearance, this time around we got him in the opening sequence and it?s harsh! The Hulk is the star of this film and makes quite a few appearances throughout.

SPOILERS BEGIN

Story details are as follows:

Character roll call: Bruce Banner, Blonsky (crazed soldier turned Abomination), General Ross, Betty Ross, Dr. Samson (Betty?s live-in boyfriend), Dr. Sterns (a cellular biologist trying to help Bruce) and Major Kathleen ?Kat? Sparr (Ross?s right-hand woman).

In the opening sequence, we find a man (unknown to the reader but it?s presumably Bruce Banner) walking in snow, surrounded by snow. He slouches to his knees, gun in his hand, attempting suicide. The trigger is pulled but a flash of green stops the bullet flat and it falls to the ground.

Fast forward 5 years. Banner is in Brazil working at a bottling plant staying under the radar in hiding. Living a quite, invisible, life Banner is searching for exotic flowers that he believes will help destroy the gamma radiation in his blood to end the struggle he?s lived with for the past 5 years. He tries desperately to always remain calm through the use of mediation and a pulse monitor.

Banner has a funny little run in with some Brazilian heavies who are harassing a lady co-worker. Due to Banner?s poor handle on the Portuguese language his threats aren?t threats at all, they are actually funny lines that cause the heavies to pull a WTF? Luckily Bruce stays calm enough to make it through.

While working, Bruce is cut and a drop of his blood falls into one of the bottles that gets shipped out for sale. A woman in Minnesota drinks the juice and almost dies. The gamma is detected in her blood and this alerts the military, General Ross in particular and Cabot. They organize a team, headed up by Blonsky, to find where the drink was bottled and to apprehend a white man in the area.

The team finds Banner in bed, but he is smarter and quicker than they think and he leads them on a chase around town. Coincidentally the same heavies who had a run-in with Banner earlier are out drinking and join in the chase to beat Banner?s ass. It doesn?t take long for the Hulk to rear his ugly greenish grey head and basically crush everything and everyone (literally) in his path. He escapes to smash another day. Banner heads back to the States to find help through Dr. Sterns, striving to put right what once went wrong, within himself and with Betty.

Upon arriving in the States, Banner heads to his old stomping grounds, back to where it all began, to get his data and find Dr. Sterns. Instead, he finds Betty. He quickly leaves out the back door of a restaurant when she sees him, but she chases after him until he agrees to come over to her house to talk.

After talking with Betty and her live-in boyfriend Samson, Betty is driving Bruce to the bus station, on the way he wants to stop back at the university. Big mistake, the military and General Ross finds him and a big battle ensues. Betty is injured (Hulk saves her) and they finds themselves on the run together.

In the meantime, Blonsky was crushed by Hulk, but due to the super soldier wacky sauce he?s been shooting up he heals and is stronger than ever. Ross shoots him up a little more to make sure he?s strong enough for another round with Hulk.

They head to New York to find Dr. Sterns. He has developed an ?anti-dote? of sorts for Bruce that works to bring him back to normal during a ?flare up.? Unfortunately, Ross and his men catch up with them and Bruce and Betty are taken into custody. Blonsky has his own ulterior motives and makes Sterns shoot him up with the super gamma serum he?s developed from Bruce?s blood. This turns him into Abomination and he begins to destroy the city.

The only one who can stop him is Bruce?Ross agrees. Monster on Monster action ensues!"

Don't mean to sound like an ass (I know we have a few Comic Book Guys in here) but I have lost interest in almost all comic-book-to-film adaptations. I did like Batman Begins and the first two Spidey movies even though I had never read the comics. Why? Because they were, IMO, good movies.

As for the rest, I think I've become jaded. It's not the genre that bothers me - it's the lack of new source material. How about a superhero movie that is not based on an existing Marvel/DC series?

1) Hancock

2) There are perhaps hundreds of minor characters in the Marvel/DC comics that have never been featured in a movie, TV show, cartoon, and barely held their own comics. However, they'd make fantastic movies. There's loads of content to draw from.

They are definitely prepping up for The Avengers movie, and Marvel is starting to make sure the Marvel Universe is treated properly.
You got Tony Stark appearing in this movie, a planned Thor movie, as well as Captain America. Iron Man 2 is already slated to hit theaters in 2010, with all the same main characters of the first one appearing, and then The Avengers movie in 2011... Marvel looks to finally have their head in the movie business, taking control over their domain, unlike when they just licensed the use of their characters for big releases prior.
Wonder if they'll take control of a potential Spiderman 4. That'd just make my day, take creative control out of Raimi's hands. Maybe we could see a faithful presentation of Venom and Carnage and the Lizardman? That'd be awesome. :D

I have a gut feeling this movie is going to suck.

I'll wait for the reviews.

the CGI effects for the numerous green giants looks a little displeasing, but I don't think the movie will be that bad. I personally have disliked the Hulk as a character, well... my whole life. It's one of the superheroes I just can't bring myself to have any interest in.
I'll probably never see it, or at least, not in theaters... but I think it'll definitely be better than the last Hulk movie. It seems to have a better plot, that's for sure. Better characters. Hell, just the involvement of the Tony Stark character makes me happy. That should bump up the quality of this movie alone. Whether anything else can do so, remains to be seen.

Given that the Hulk is not really a hero, more an anti-hero, it makes for a different angle on so called "super-hero" movies. Personally, I'm loving all the comic book character based movies, and hope to see many more.

What gives? Does this have anything to do with The Hulk (with Eric Bana) which came out not too long ago? Is this a sequel, prequel or does it completely parallel The Hulk?

...so you're going to post spoilers about the movie which likely will reduce the number of people who want to pay to see it thus decreasing the opening weekend numbers resulting in a drop in stock price so you can buy more stock at a lower price offsetting the high price you paid for the stock you currently own? Or maybe you're shorting it.

No, they're treating that movie as if it never existed.....and rightfully so.

Its a sequel in that it doesn't pretend the Ang Lee movie never happened (judging by the trailer it looks like it picks up in South America where the last one left off). Its not an origin story, we already know who the hulk is and what he can do, etc.. But that's really where the connection with the first one ends. Everyone involved acknowledged they wanted to go in a different direction, so the style and tone are quite different.

Saw this trailer before the Iron Man trailer and as much as I'm looking forward to it (huge comic book fan here), I hate the fact that they give away the whole damn movie in the trailer.

It's hard to do enough character development and pull off a great movie in 2 hours. They have ton of 'superhero' movies though that aren't based on DC/Marvel. Most do poorly.

Why didn't Iron Man get a mention? Much better than Spidey at least (Kirsten Dunst as MJ = such a terrible casting decision).

Off the top of my head, some upcoming movies that aren't attached to the DC/Marvel universe: Hancock, Watchmen*, Wanted.

*Watchmen was published under DC Comics but not part of its ongoing universe, its a stand-alone series.

Just got back from watching the screening so here is the real Spoiler Alert:

CGI will definitely kick ass once this comes out on blu ray which I plan on getting the day it is released...

A good chunk of the movie were the fight scenes and they didn't cheese up the movie too bad...

If you are looking for alot of action with no deep story, then this movie is for you!!!

didn't happen like that all...about to come to blows at work, but the boss (who likes Bruce's work at the plant and wanted to give him a promotion) stops them from fighting...they do come to blows a bit later though...

this is way off base...unless Stan Lee became a woman or something...

so far this is the closest you have been to what actually happened in the film, but Bruce's dog warns him so he sets up a decoy in the bed while he sneaks out window...then he gets chased by Ross and his goons plus the co-workers he had a run in with earlier.

Upon arriving in the States, Banner heads to his old stomping grounds, back to where it all began, to get his data and find Dr. Sterns. Instead, he finds Betty. the rest of this is pretty accurate except the live-in part. She sneaks him into her house, he sleeps alone in a bed while she slept alone in her bed...Dr Samson was nowhere to be found.

It's hard to do enough character development and pull off a great movie in 2 hours. They have ton of 'superhero' movies though that aren't based on DC/Marvel. Most do poorly.
The reason they don't have character development is because no one in hollywood writes any actual dialogue anymore. They just do action scenes and lame sitcom quality banter. The few movies that have any dialogue are usually set in a different country or time with funky accents that actually take away from the character development by throwing up distractions.

Superhero movies are action flicks. They're not supposed to have dialogue. They're supposed to have killer special effects, a good guy, a bad guy, a hot chick, and some fight scenes. The first Hulk Movie sucked because no one bought into the special effects. Things that look like a mix between a cartoon and real cinema died with Roger Rabbit.
