The "How I made out on Black Friday" thread

Err, sorry if this belongs in Brag and Moan.

Well, we got to Best Buy (North Attleboro MA) at around 4:30 AM, and there were already around 100 people in line. They handed out tickets at 5:30 (which really didn't do anything), and opened the doors at 6. By then the line had swelled to over 500 people (insane, it wrapped around the parking lot). We got in and headed straight for the video cards, got lucky and we snagged 3, some CDRs and dvd players too.

They're Asylum BFG GeForce4 ti4200 128mb. Final cost will be $89 (plus tax) after the $55 MIR.

i went to the only store in my town that sells computer stuff, Office Max. I cleaned up with a CenDyne 48x cdrw for 19.99 AR and 100 pack of 48x k hypermedia for free AR they were all out of the free DVD drives 🙁 And i also bought a dual deck DVD VHS deck for 99.99 AR. Hopefully all the rebates come through. Office max is pretty good i hear. I also jumped on the free 56k winmodem and liksys NIC for free. If only we had a best buy.

My brother and I went to two different Best Buys. We both arrived at our respective BB's at 5:00am. I was number 78 in line and my brother and his friends were #20 at his store. NONE of us were able to get the video cards, in fact there was no way that either store had the guaranteed 10 in stock because there was only one row of them at mine and they were gone, and the row couldn't have fit more than 5 boxes. But we both managed to get the 75GB HDD/256MB PC133 deal and I also picked up a 128MB CompactFlash card for $30, so it wasn't a terrible experience. I sure woulda liked the GF4 Ti tho.

I didn't even try to get the TI4200 cards, but I got in on the hard drive and ram deal, and also made out like a bandit on the 48x CDRW drive...

I got a ticket after waiting in line since 1:30am, but when i went to redeem it they were completely out, so they guy priced matched me with a pacific digital 48x for $9.99 straight up. No rebate hassle there 🙂

and for the guy who got to the store at 5am and thjere was no one in line, you are a lucky bastard... there were people (only 3 but still) ahead of us when we got there at 1:30am, and by 5am there were at least 250 people in line, and growing.
