Here is my short list of hot phones out now or real soon. They have almost every feature I could possibly want and once the reviews, prices and final specs are out, I'll probably end up buying one.

HTC Touch HD: 3.8 inch 480x800 screen, 288mb RAM, 512mb ROM, 528mhz CPU, quad band, dual band 3G, microSD slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, GPS/A-GPS, 5MP camera. With the huge, gorgeous screen and lightning quick performance, this thing looks amazing.

Sony Ericsson Experia X1: 3.0 inch 480x800 screen, 256MB RAM, 512MB ROM, 528MHZ CPU, quad band, tri-band 3G, microSD slot, Wi-Fi, bluetooth 2.0 w/ A2DP, GPS/A-GPS, 3.15MP camera, full qwerty keyboard. Although the screen isn't as nice as the HTC Touch HD, this thing has a very slick looking keyboard (which is a big plus) and I've personally had great experiences with Sony Ericsson phones (although I understand this one is manufactured by HTC).

HTC Dream: 320x480, 128mb RAM, 256MB ROM, 528Mhz CPU, quad band, tri-band 3G, microSD slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, full qwerty keyboard. GPS and camera seem to be unknown. It's not nearly as powerful or slick looking as the X1 and Touch HD, but it's interesting as the first phone to use Google's Android OS. Google has a good track record of great software, so it'll be cool to see how well they did with a phone OS.

HTC Touch Pro: 2.8inch 480x640 screen, 288MB RAM, 512MB ROM, 528Mhz CPU, dual band (US & Europe/Asia versions separate), dual band 3G, microSD slot, Wi-Fi, bluetooth 2.0, GPS/A-GPS, 3.15MP camera, full qwerty keyboard. This device is out already and the hardware seems identical to the X1. However, it doesn't look as cool and for some retarded reason, it's not a quad band world phone. I don't care that much about the looks, but if I can't take this phone with me when I travel, there's no way I'll get it.

Add in the Omnia - which is shipping at ~USD$700 right now although hard to find in the US.

Samsung i900 Omnia: 3.2 inch, 240x480 touch screen, 128MB RAM, 256MB ROM, 624MHz Marvell CPU, 5MP camera with LED flash, 3G video calling camera, GPS, Wifi, quad-band GSM/EDGE phone, European HSDPA (no AT&T 3G yet), Bluetooth 2.0, micro-SD, FM Radio, Windows Mobile 6.1. (Review)

IMHO, the X1 is the giant-killer. A true QWERTY keyboard is worth a bit of screen space. However, I do see some of the multimedia crowd flocking to the Touch HD.

I actually am not as bullish on Android as some other folks, so I'll be curious to see how the Dream ends up.

What are the price estimates for these phones? I'll probably want a new one eventually.

The Dream is nice that it'll support Android, but the resolution is too low for me. I definitely prefer VGA(480x640) or higher.

Yup, good call, forgot about that one. Many of the specs are lower (resolution, RAM, ROM) and the lack of US 3G (for now) is annoying, but a solid phone otherwise.

I tend to agree. I really want a hardware keyboard on the phone as typing on a touch screen (namely, that of the iPhone) flat out sucked. On the other hand, a 3.8 inch screen is awfully tempting...

I'm not sure that's really known yet as many of these aren't out. The exception is the HTC dream, which T-Mobile announced will be $199 with a 2 year contract.

I would guess that unlocked, most of these phones will come out in the ~$800 price range. If any carriers subsidize them (rumor has it that AT&T will pick up the HTC touch HD, X1 and HTC Touch Pro), I'd guess the price would be $200-$400 with a 2 year contract.

If being a world phone is important to you the BB Bold not only has all of the GSM bands for the U.S., China and Europe but also WCDMA for Japan as well. One of the few (only?) phones that supports all of these.

Yeah, the Bold is a "do-it-all" but it's not a touchscreen. A lot of people think this is a good thing because typing on a real keyboard is always better than typing on a virtual touchscreen keyboard... but if the list is "do-it-all" touchscreens, then the Bold won't be on it.

The Storm is almost certainly on the list of "do-it-all" phones, but there aren't enough details about it available yet. No idea of memory, or screen resolution, and is it really going to release worldwide without WiFi (or is it going to be like the Pearl where Verizon's version doesn't have WiFi but everyone else's does).

I'm not a Nokia fanboy but I should think at least one of them would be on this list.
Possibly the N85 or N96.

Regarding the N85 and N96, those are both very, very nice phones and I like Nokia products - my wife has a 3G Nokia that she loves... but neither of the N85 or the N96 is a touch screen.
