Have you ever visited a race track? I went to one for the first just a few weeks ago, it was actually fun. I didn't win any money though. Anyone here a regular?

Too many young ones here I suppose.
There are some tracks around here (DFW) but I am not much of a gambler.
I will play poker for money though and buy a lotto ticket every now and then when it is like 50 mil.
I did play a board game back when I was a kid called Win, Place, Show.
That game was a blast.

I live in "The Horse Capital of the Worl" and Keeneland and RedMile are minutes from my house, yet I have never been to either. We keep saying, next spring meet, next fall meet........

I need to go....

I will be the 1st one to say, "I'll take Hor Semen for 200".

I wanted to go to the local racetrack to bet on the Derby, but that was a long time ago:(

I used to go to the track occaisionally. It was a fun way to waste some time. I usually came out even in the end too, so that worked out well. Now I live where there aren't tracks and reading this thread makes me want to go again.

Of course you can't be talking about "The Horse Capital of the World", because that's Ocala, FL, not Lexington, KY. After all, they put a trademark on it...

FYI- Lexington and Ocala have been known for horses. Lexington has had the slogan Horse Capital of the World for years (maybe Ocala has too, I'm not sure). Recently Ocala trademarked the phrase and now everyone up here in Lexington is all pissy about it (I really could care less).

Bay Meadows in Northern CA all the time when I lived up there. My grandfather had a couple race horses in the early 80's and they raced their every so often. (they were quarter horses) They won a couple races, but nothing special.

If I can ever get my damn scanner working again I will throw his pictures up with the finish photos. Pretty funny.

The winner horses are very treated well, when they retire they get paid (well actually their owners paid) millions to mate with other horses. Its all in the breeding so you breed the best, its a big business. Not so sure what happens to the runts, although I think they are treated fairly well to be in race worthy shape.
