This is actually a film called "Grass," which I did a DVD review for a few years back. It is a very interesting look at the history of the drug war.

I actually rented this doco a few years ago when I was a major pot head. I can't remember a thing from it. Seriously.

I like the propaganda film around 31:00 into it that warns of the new drug culture where kids start in high school taking pep pills (speed) before moving on to pot. It reminded me of the meth thread here where so many people posted how crazy it would be to legalize drugs like meth, someone mentioned "social suicide". Its just kind of ironic that amphetamines used to be so widespread that they were seen as a less harmful stepping stone to pot.

Check out the shotgun scene at 40:00!
Some old school nsfw goodies at 13:30

Alcohol was made illegal, too in this country. Instead of solving problems it created a whole bunch of new ones. Crime didn't go down like promised, it went way up. It gave rise to an underworld where people bought what they wanted to buy, illegally. Mobsters cashed in and gunned down officers trying to stop them.

Just like what's going on now with this drug war.

So you want them to make it legal, only to realize that they can't make it illegal again? If they do it would be prohibition all over again.

There would be less problems if they legalized it. With it legal, they can then control it. With it illegal, it's out of their control and instead up to organized crime/drug kingpins to control. Just like with prohibition.

Watch the movie. The lies are about why it became illegal and and why it remains illegal.

yup, they made it into an issue when there was no real scientific/logical reason to be worried about it. created a hysteria out of nothing, pushed blatant lies to get their way. its quite twisted and sickening how it worked so damned well. just watch the film, the old government propaganda clips they show are disturbing enough

I don't smoke pot anymore, and when I did it was few and far between, usually a bit drunk and with a chick that did it.

If they legalized and taxed it, it would be big bucks for the country and cut down petty crime.

So many people turn a marijuana debate into crack, cocaine and heroin though.

Caffeine is far more addictive as is nicotine than most drugs, but people don't move on to bigger 'highs' like the nay-sayers want people to believe.

Those that would, are already doing illegal drugs.
