That's by far the nicest looking power supply I've ever seen. Initially, I was going to say that the PC Power & Cooling would have been the better choice, but check out this review(you do read reviews of products before you buy them, don't you?).

The article lists these statistics for the Hiper Modular Type-R 580 Watt Power Supply:
+5V: 2.0A / 36A ± 5% (100mV), +12V1: 0.2A / 20A ± 5% (120mV), +12V2: 0.0A / 18A ± 5% (120mV), -12V: 0.0A / 0.8A ± 10% (200mV), +5VSB: 0.0A / 2.5A ± 5% (70mV), +3.3V: 0.4A / 30A ± 5% (70mV). Those are pretty decent numbers, though a PC Power & Cooling product would probably have higher ratings for the 12V rails. 18A is okay, though, since it's got dual 12V rails, your motherboard won't have to share with the other components, which adds to stability.

All in all, the PC Power & Cooling probably has the edge in quality, but this is one of the few times that I would say looks + good performance beats top-notch performance. The Hiper Modular Type-R is my pick.

I am also using the Hiper Type-R 580w Modular PSU and it is very stable. It isn't quite a PC P&C Power Supply but definitely as good as if not better than a Fortron (based on my own experiences as an Engineer).

You made a good choice with the Hiper so feel proud to own a high quality PSU.

Damn, after reading the review on pimprig, that PSU looks awesome. For the price, this is probably the best looking and perfroming modular PSU available.

I might have to purchase one of these.

OP, where did you buy yours at?

They say it failed on the -12V line. What exactly is the -12V line powering?

probably not much. manufacturers probably don't put much regulation into the -12v line because almost nothing uses it.. maybe COM ports on older motherboards use it.

oh yea, nice PS. i like the screw type modular cables, they look nicer than my modstreams molex

Dang, Just noticed that my P/S failed a test as well. Now i gotta replace it. :( Wish I would have seen this article before I purchased the P/S. I thought I had a winner.

I saw this and thought it was a nice powersupply. I nearly bought it then, I saw my Antec NeoHE 550Watt for $105 shipped so I pulled the trigger on it. I'm not dissappointed in my purchase at all. Although that Hiper looks awesome.

That would be bad if it actually was -13.32v on he -12v rail. All i'm getting is -12.64v which is perfectly acceptable and has no impact on the satability of the system. Anyonre with this PSU should use a DMM to measure the voltages and post how wrong Toms is (as usual).

I'm not sure where OP got it, but i purchased mine from frozencpu.com. Performance-pc.com also carries them, but they use UPS, i opted for the FedEx from frozen. Frozen however does charge for TAX too. :(
and yes, i did read many reviews, bolt :)
