Do any of you wonder into the High Tech forum? I noticed that there is a severe lack of coffee maker and rice cooker threads. I need help choosing.

I went there once, only to find a thread about dropping a basketball sized ball of plutonium into a volcano and if it would cause a nuclear explosion or not.....

Needless to say I didn't think that was really highly technical and don't go back much lol.

I used to post quite a bit in there, but then the discussions turned to PC help and theoretical physics, neither of which I consider highly technical.

uh...theoretical physics is not highly technical? the pc help stuff is susposed to be out of there, usually it is taken care of.

And it gets very diluted when people post questions in HT that should be in Networking...

Fair enough. But given the relative lack of traffic in that subforum I doubt anyone cares that I posted a book request in that forum. Except you that is.

Well, to be honest, it's not as technical as it is theoretical...

Sometime I go over there just to drop a knowledge bomb on the poor souls inside. Then I watch for a few months as they fight over my crumbs.

The only knowledge bomb that needs to be dropped there is a thread on why the sub-forum was created in an attempt keep hubris in check. Lets dig into that topic in a highly technical manner.

Yeah, the problem is that's under Hardware and Technology (HT), and to me, it doesn't quite fit. Plus I usually just see crap that would fit better in a different forum, or a different website altogether. Makes me glad I am not a mod. Maybe since they added the Discussion Club under Social, they could just get rid of HT entirely (+1-1).

And subjective speaking, many of the threads under HT (and Software) get pretty technical anyway.

Eh, I posted a thread in there today (reminded of the forum from this post) and I have gotten some helpful responses.
