The "Cybercities" report, which examines everything from average commute time to venture capital investments and quality of life quotients, says a very healthy software industry in the city helped push average high-tech wages in 1998 to $129,300, or 50% more than the average high-tech wage paid in San Jose ($85,100). Seattle's high-tech average wage was also some 200% more than the average private sector wage in Seattle
