Actually me and my wife are in the 100-200k salary range. As per totalnoob's post, are in a higher percent then the HENRY group. Difference is I live in by my means. I don't keep up with the Jones and cry when a small tax subset goes up.
Let alone be a whinny racist like you because the “Black is holding me down…”

you have kids?

Yep, 1, and did not help with our taxs at all.

so then as a parent who wants the best for his kid(s), you should understand the situation that some of the HENRY's are in.

for someone living in a high CoL area, $250k gross doesn't go that far.
private schooling for 3 kids, housing, savings for retirement can easily take up most of that.

it's not just about living within your means. it's about you making smart choices in preparing and providing for your family, and all of a sudden the government wants a bigger piece of your already shrinking slice of the pie.

Oh no I can't send billy to a private school, he may run into some of them dirty dark skin people. And I need 4000sq/ft house or I would look poor. And my car is a year old, time to get a new one...

Also I do live in a very high CoL area, N.VA. I still have no car payment, decent house, no real debt(outside of house), plenty in retirement savings, etc... But damm those Jones... :awe:

Good. I'm sick of being punished for renting.

As long as it's not your bull getting gored, eh?

I agree with Deeko's statement in that government revenue should be behavior-neutral. Government should take only that money it absolutely needs for its legitimate functions. If you choose to rent in order to live a higher lifestyle, give more to charity, save more, pay student loans more quickly, or whatever you want to do with your money, government in my never-to-be-humble opinion has no business punishing you with a higher tax rate. We should have maximum possible freedom; we are not children to be punished for making non-approved decisions. That's one of the big reasons I support the FairTax, because it gets the government out (to a big extent) of controlling behavior through tax carrots and sticks.

renters are already getting gored because of the ridiculous .gov policies to encourage house ownership. and now we're getting double-fscked having to bail out said owners. i'm getting gored extra deep compared to others in my income range due to not having made the decision to purchase a house, get married, or have kids. f-that. when the rest of you decide to pull your own damn weight then you can stop complaining 'as long as it's not your bull getting gored.'

I'm going to organzie a vigil in my hometown so we can all light candles and stand in a big group siging hymns and thinking about the fact our fellow man is limited in how many BMWs and filet mignon dinners he can have.

Oh wait, no, I wont.

When I moved for my job, I bought a house instead of renting because the tax code made it cheaper. How rediculous is that?

I completely agree. Get rid of the mortgage deduction.

Then report it if you think that. I am betting others will see that is just as dumb as you trying to blame Obama for Taxs that either happened well before his time or have not even happened yet.

But don;t worry, me and Blackjack200 will burn a silent candel for all those that have to drive their BMW for more than a year. :\

Raise cap on payroll tax for 3% of earners over $102,000

A Trillion-Dollar Tax Increase

I am in the $50,000 to $100,000 group. I went to public schools and a state university. I am doing well because I live in the US and actually I do not mind paying taxes to pay for living here. I would rather that so much of my taxes did not go to supporting the empire.

I always wonder about the people who have benefitted the most from living in the US complain the most about paying for it.

I am a soon to be HENRY (well perhaps HESRA - "somewhat rich already":D), but this does not exactly inspire sympathy:
the HENRYs were so squeezed between their big expenses for the things they considered staples -- private schools and day care for the kids, for example -- and an immense tax burden that typically took at $100,000 from a $350,000 income, that they not only weren't rich, but stood little chance of ever saving the big nest egg to qualify as truly wealthy.
Seriously? The argument seems to be that this group is so inept at financial planning (despite their high income and access to financial planning resources) that they somehow "deserve" consideration when drafting tax policy.

Whatever happened to teaching kids about the ant and the grasshopper?

a) no, you aren't. It's over 250k for married. I'm willing to wager you aren't even in that bracket, to be honest. Be more jealous next time.

b) way to play a race card when it is irrelevant. This is why people ignore actual racism. Grats on contributing PERSONALLY to oppressing minorities.

Welcome to the world of trickledown economics, where the only people who don't get squeezed are the super rich... guys like these-

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/01/business/01hedge.html?th&emc=th

Figure they'll fall into the top 400 incomes, whose federal tax rate averages ~17%...

And figure on a little less sympathy for people who've made middle class dream incomes for years, and who didn't have the wisdom to live within their means. Pretty easy, I suspect, when you're making $250-500K, vs $25K-50K.
