where did they all go? i remember back in the day when you bought pretty much anything computer related they desperately threw in 2 IDE PATA cables. i must have a million of those. now since they shrunk the standard and cost to manufacture the cables, we never get them with anything it seems like.

its sunday, 11am, and i need to find ONE cable. best buy was the best shot i had, but they didnt open till 11 and i was out there around 10am. no local computer shops are open... i doubt i would find one at walmsrt... office max was a joke.... why is this so hard? any ideas? make my own?

I couldn't imagine the horror of being out of sata cables for a couple of hours.

I usually only trust my hard drive/motherboard connectors to be graced by gold connectors and cables by Monster Cable. If I want fast I get the good stuff.

Why don't you post in the for sale forum. There is bound to be an ATOT'er around you that has some.

I know of all the motherboards I've purchased, they always come with at least 2. Heck, I have so many I color code the hard drives being plugged in for what they're used for.

That's my experience as well. I didn't get any with my HDDs and optical drives, but I got at least 5 with both motherboards I bought.

I grabbed some extra at Microcenter about a month ago. Had installed a 4870 on mATX board and needed 90 degree cables to get drives plugged into the mobo, had to do a cable swapping dance with the server to get cables I needed.

About 2 weeks ago I got 25 more cables from Mwave for $10 shipped :D

Should be set for awhile. Of course you will probably pay as much for 1 cable from Best Buy as I paid for the 25, plus the half dozen from MC, plus a weeks worth of groceries.

I probably have 12 unused sata cables sitting in my closet. How could you be out? How many drives are you using?

I have a few but I'm getting low. True about the PATA stuff though, have tons of that since it was always coming with drives or motherboards, etc.

i think ive been buying used motherboards lately... i get the box and cd's but everyone hoards sata cables. plus i just sold 3 computers and rebuilt 2...

so i went to worst buy the 2nd time, and the guy takes me to where the sata cables are. and they are out of stock. the geektwads 'had none extra' either... gimme a break.

so i went home and started ripping apart my server pc to take the sata cable from my torrent drive (this means no torrents for a week). inside was a spare sata cable for the future drive i intended to put in someday, so all of this was a waste of time on my part. but i still hate best buy. monoprice order being sent tonight.
